New version posted: v06.5.19b

Very minor changes, nothing functional other than a switch setting change, and owners manual corrections.
I do recommend that people who are using GBPVR v0.97.7 change "SET Use_tv_cat=0" to "SET Use_tv_cat=1" in their UpdateEPG.bat.
At least until I've had it running on my v0.97.7 system a little longer.
"SET Use_tv_cat=0" works fine, is much faster, and has been working for over a month with my GBPVR v0.96.12 system. If your using v0.96.12, the "0" setting is fine.

From the change log.
Change: "SET Use_tv_cat=0" to "SET Use_tv_cat=1" xmltv's tv_cat will now be used to join the files. The original "0" setting has worked fine on my v96.12 system for over a month, but I want to do extended testing before recommending it for the default with v0.97.7
Manual update: Removed a switch that didn’t exist, and other small changes to make it easier to understand.
UpdateEPG.bat Change: I removed the "shift listing" options from UpdateEPG.bat because it is not used with GBPVR. It was moved to ReadMe-NOW.txt, incase someone has a need for that feature.
Change: I made a small "logging" change to I-xmltv, The operation and output have not changed.
Change: If the "/tp/ switch is not used, the Premiere! indicator is once again "*" by default.

The zip downloads and opens ok on my end, but people have reported quite a few problems downloading zips from the forum.

Try this first, from bgowland.
"If you use IE then turn off 'Use HTTP 1.1' in the Internet Options menu if you have trouble downloading."

Another thread about zip download & extraction problems.

If it doesn’t work after trying the above, I’ll look for another download location.

Thank you for the advice. I used winrar and was able to take care of the situation. I appreciate your quick response.

Version update: v06.5.21b 5/21/06

Nothing has changed with the TV-Guide options in this release, but it’s a major (final?) release and worth downloading.
I added a feature that verifies the EPG files after they are downloaded. If there was a channel lineup change, or a download problem, the files will get a second download attempt before using the last-known-good backup EPG.

From the change log .
REM "I-xmltv /v60" Validates the individual day.xml files, after they are downloaded. By checking for (and correcting) lineup changes, incomplete downloads, and extremely small day.xml files. If a single day’s epg download is less than a pre-defined percentage of 1.xml’s 2-day average, a second download attempt is made for that file.. /v60 = 60%, /v56 = 56% /v60 is the default and should not need to be changed.

When upgrading to the latest version:
Extract the zip to your “C:\”: drive overwriting the original “C:\I-xmltv” folder.
Edit the included UpdateEPG.bat choosing the number of “DaysEPG=” you prefer, and change “/tp/-6” to your actual time-zone. (-6 = central time).
The final step is to move UpdateEPG.bat to your GBPVR folder.

Just came a crossed this tool today and it is awesome. I was looking for something to try to stop the "recording season" shows from recording reruns. I guess this will not stop them from being recorded but will allow me to cancel them if they are reruns with out having to get on a computer to look it up.

I had a DVR from Time Warner last year that showed some of this info and it did only record rerun if I asked it to. Maybe someday GBPVR will be able to do the same. I made the switch to GBPVR since there are allot more options with GBPVR so I guess I have to expect to loose somethings.

Took me 2 tries to get it right (I think).
It still asks for a password for each tuner...
Will it automatically update, without my input?
Do I need to keep the c:\I-xmltv folder? (I'd like to keep everything in the gbpvr folder)
Error on 2 shows in epg. One listing with the word "colorized", and one listing with the word "B&W".

Edit: Looking through the .bat, can I change this:
Code:
C:
CD "C:\I-xmltv\"
SET GRABBER=tv_grab_na_dd
SET XMLTVDIR=C:\I-xmltv\
SET xmltvFileName=xmltv.xml
SET BackupFileName=BackupEPG.xml
IF %DaysEPG% GTR 13 SET DaysEPG=13
If not exist %xmltvFileName% SET FirstRun=1
to this
Code:
C:
CD "C:\Program Files\devnz\gbpvr\I-xmltv\"
SET GRABBER=tv_grab_na_dd
SET XMLTVDIR=C:\Program Files\devnz\gbpvr\I-xmltv\
SET xmltvFileName=xmltv.xml
SET BackupFileName=BackupEPG.xml
IF %DaysEPG% GTR 13 SET DaysEPG=13
If not exist %xmltvFileName% SET FirstRun=1
???
You can never have enough tuners!

I may not understand what you're looking to do, but the premiere indicator allows you to avoid reruns. When I season record "Pinks! *", "Drag Racing *" & “Indy Car Racing *” it only records what’s new for the day and not the reruns.
But sometimes they air a new show two or more times that same day. This is where duplicate recording avoidance comes into play.

Some shows like the evening news and daily talk shows don’t have an original-air-date to work with, so they will not show the premier indicator.
Keep in mind, unless you season schedule episodes with the "*" you are only recording the reruns.
And some shows that are new in the states, like the SciFi channels Doctor Who, are actually last years reruns from the UK.

Hi Reboot,
Give me a bit of time to think over what your saying.

Question? I only have one tuner on each of my systems. Does GBPVR call UpdateEPG.bat for each tuner if the channel lineup is the same?
If so I can probably modify the UpdateEPG.bat to do nothing if the TVGuide.xml has already been created for the day.

It still asks for a password for each tuner...
It should not ask for your password after entering your information on the first run of UpdateEPG.bat.
If you open "tv_grab_na_dd.conf" in the "I-xmltv\.xmltv" folder it shoud contain your username and password.
Code:
username: ?????
password: ?????
timezone: UTC

Will it automatically update, without my input?
Yes.

Do I need to keep the c:\I-xmltv folder? (I'd like to keep everything in the gbpvr folder)
It's setup to work in the C:\I-xmltv folder, you could probably put it under GBPVR but I'd have to look into what would need to be changed.
I did it this way because its not just a GBPVR app, and if someone deletes their gbpvr folder for a reload or something, there is no reason to lose the xmltv data.

Error on 2 shows in epg. One listing with the word "colorized", and one listing with the word "B&W".
Not sure about that one. Are the words "colorized" and "B&W" actually shown in the title / subtitle / description text?
I dont do anything with the colour fields.
Code:
<video>
      <colour>no</colour>
    </video>

If you know the title and date of the show(s) that were giving the problem, zip and attach the "day.xml" file and I'll see if I can find the problem.

ok, that makes sense so any show I have previously set to record a "season recording" I need to delete it and reschdule it so there is a "*" so it only get the new shows. I'll give it a show
