Read the thread, did drivers, reg key, still the same problem.

ONLY on the MVP, time is correct on computer, commercials skip on the computer.

If new recordings are still reporting an incorrect duration, then it still sounds like you're still having a timestamp issue. Maybe you could try contacting Hauppauge.

Alternatively you could try repairing the file to correct the timestamps. A few methods for doing this are described in this thread: http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=9968

Sub,

I did some more testing of automatic commercial skipping.

It works perfectly every time when I watch a recorded show on the GBPVR PC. Time line is correct, commercials are marked, and when the position indicator gets to a marked commercial segment it skips forward and all is good.

When I watch the same show on the MVP, commercial skipping is hit or miss. The time line is correct, and commercials are marked, but when the position indicator gets to a marked commercial segment it just keeps playing the video right through the commercial, no skipping forward? It also does not skip to the end of the marked commercial segment if I press the PLAY while the indicator is in the marked segment. When I say it's hit or miss, I don't mean during the same recording, but between watching of recordings. For example: If I start watching a recording and commercial skipping isn't working from the start it will not work throughout the playback, but if I start the same recording and commercial skipping decides to work from the start, then it will continue throughout the playback. It's just very random, sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't.

This only happens on the MVP, it always works on the GBPVR PC itself, and it was not a problem until the switch to .net 2.0.

Another thing we noticed, in your previous builds if you skiped into a marked commercial segment it would then automatically skip to the end of the marked segment. This does not happen with the new version on the PC or the MVP. Maybe a clue???

I have rebooted the MVP/GBPVR PC, tried both Dongle files and still no luck.

Any suggestions? Is commercial skipping reported in any log files?

Thanks for the great program,
jjakober

You say it is a hit or miss thing. Are you rewinding the show at all when watching on the MVP? I've had problems with commercial skipping stopping after rewinding a show segment (i.e. to replay an interesting part of a show). Stopping the show and resuming it usually fixes the problem.

I should note that this was with the previous version of GBPVR. I haven't tried it with 97.9.

I also noticed this in previous builds, but:

Nope, no rewinding or pausing, just playing the video and letting it go.

I guess the thing that I am trying to key in on is the fact that it works perfectly when the recording is watched on the GBPVR PC, but it is intermittant when watching the same video through the MVP.

Thanks for the reply,

I've tripple checked and its working fine here.

When you run it on the MVP it is very dependent on the presentation timestamps in the file. This is not the case on the PC. If you have a PVR150 with the timestamp problem, then playback on the MVP will have problems determining the correct duration of the file, skipping and auto comskipping.

When it does this auto comskipping on the MVP, where it initiates and finishese the comskip skip can be +/- a few seconds of the actual commercial detected by comskip. I dont have very accurate control of the MVP in this respect.

Sounds like your having the same exact problem I had with 96.12.
See if this works.
In config.xml, the default value for <UseMenuResumeButton> is “true”, change it to “false”.

Code:
<PromptForResume>false</PromptForResume>
<StoreResumeStartExclusion>0</StoreResumeStartExclusion>
<StoreResumeEndExclusion>0</StoreResumeEndExclusion>
<UseMenuResumeButton>[color=Red]false[/color]</UseMenuResumeButton>

<PromptForResume> will still work if set to true. But there will not be a menu selection, just a popup window.

Jim,

From my preliminary testing of your fix, I can only come to one conclusion, YOU ROCK!!!

So far so good, I tried a couple of different recordings and auto commercial skipping is back to it's old reliable self.

The funny thing is that I usually make that setting change in the config.xml, but for some reason I didn't with the latest builds.

Thanks for your help,

Thanks, :o
I’m a little surprised that no one remembered or mentioned the fix before this. It took a very long time to track it down when 96.12 was released, the fix and problem was very repeatable with all 3 computers I tested. Sub doesn’t use comskip, but it would be nice if the setting could be changed to false in future releases.
