Did you make it send Enter from the dish remote select button? I'm assuming the Stb just needs to see some kind of activity to stay awake, And I'd like to use Hip to do this function for me, have you tried it with Hip??

thanks

You don't need to - if you set a VCR timer, the box knows not to enable the screen saver, so it's a non-issue, and setting the timer to 23:59 means it just always stays off. If you just set a regular timer the screen saver will still pop up and mess everything up though, so make sure it's a VCR timer, even if you just put in a bogus VCR code like I've done.

Really? What model STB do you have? I know with absolute certainty that option doesn't exist on either the 301 or 311... And I'm curious which model they finally decided to make it optional on.

Actually It is a dish network 301, it's not the one that says echostar on the front, it just says dish network on the upper left and dish pro in the lower left,

I just hit menu on the dish remote, then 6 system setup, 1 installation, 2 inactivity power off and set it to disable, I don't have the dish upgrade for my other echostar 301 box so I don't know if it's on that one also.....

P.S. this was a recent upgrade so maybe (if you dare) let it do an upgrade........I only did it by accident and will never do it again......Smile

good luck

I have a Dish network box too and would like to solve this problem. Keeping the box on all the time is one answer to this problem, but I don't think it's the correct one. I am using PVR2 1.1.29, and VIP 211 Dish box. I use IRServer Suite for control.
Seems to me if there was some event that IR Server Suite could pick up to send the "select" command to the STB would be the perfect answer. It would have to work both when PVR2 started, and when Recording Service started. That way if you shut off the STB by accident it would come back on to start the recording. Just appending the select (or enter) to the begining of the channel might result in the box starting up and missing the channel numbers. Then you record the wrong channel.
