Playback of AVI's from Digital Camera vs. AVI's

What's the exact Modelname of your camera? Perhaps we can have a look for a needed(?) CoDec?

It's a wee Canon IXUS40 (SD 300 in some countries). The AVI's it produces are something like 640x480 88kbps 8 but PCM Audio and 30fps 1834kbps Video.

Any help would be appreciated!

You should install the image browser from the Canon CD and install this updater: http://alpha03u.c-wss.com/inc/ApplServlet?SV=WWUCA900

Thanks SD, I've uplaoded it but teh issue seems to be a NERO codec, which I can't find/reinstall/re-register (see GSPOT). I d/l anothe MJPEG codec (installed by ffdshow) and it works a lot "better", not perfect but a lot better. I've spent too many hours on this in the last 24.

I noticed recently, that mini DV files created on my wifes computer won't transcode, and play funny. (In a previous post I also noted some nasty artifacts...)

On my computer, same camera, and tape, I'm able to capture the video and it even runs straight through to the mediaMVP (all right through Zprocess and then the mediaMVP)

That forces me to conclude that there's something wrong with my wife's computer. A long time ago, I used to wonder 'why'... Now I just reinstall...

Reinstall what though? I hate reinstalling a lot of stuff if it isn't necessary....but how do you know what is?

Bit of a joke, a bit reality... It's become sort of a tagline...

I meant reinstalling windows... I understand if it's not your cup of tea, but I do that sort of thing blindfolded, while still asleep.

I know that My wife's computer is having a codec issue. Tracking down pesky codecs is more difficult for me then just starting all over again...
