Currently I use SlimmGBPVR to monitor recording and create this dummy file. I have batch file that monitor this before reboot or hibernating the computer.

Well it would seem that this has expanded from a simple blinker to a little more. I have now added a blinky.xml file that you can configure to your liking.

[HTML]<?xml version="1.0" standalone="yes"?>
<Config>
<refresh>30000</refresh>
<flash>false</flash>
<writefile>false</writefile>
<writefilename>blinky.rec</writefilename>
</Config>[/HTML]

REFRESH is the time in miliseconds to refresh. This also controls flash so if you have this "on" for 30000 milliseconds (30 seconds), it's also off for 30000 seconds. Also, for low horsepower systems every flash results in disk io and processing.

FLASH controls if you want flashing or just a steady scroll lock key light.

WRITEFILE controls if you want an output file (see what it contains below)

WRITEFILENAME controls the output path/filename for the file.

Output file will contain information on EACH show currently recording. SO if you have more than 1 tuner recording you SHOULD have more than one entry in here. Since I only have 1 tuner, I can test this yet.

Code:
# Blinky Record Status File
Currently Recording: Days of our Lives
Start Time         : 10/9/2006 1:00:00 PM
End Time           : 10/9/2006 2:00:00 PM
File Name          : C:\Days of our Lives\Days of our Lives_20061009_13001400.mpg

Has anyone had success with this since the new update?

Also, I tired to email Blader about getting this into the wiki. I didnt see anywhere in there on how to add Blinky. Does anyone know who I have to contact?

rwmech,

I have verified that blinky.rec file created while recording and removed after recording under gbpvr directory. I will check with multiple recording next. Thanks for putting this request in.

which version is the latest ?
the one in this tread, or from the wiki plugin page ?

Should the blinky.xml be in the skins directory or in the root ?
I have put it on both places anyway.

although I have specified another name for the file, I keep getting
a blinky.rec file, in the GBPVR root, not in my specific path.

nice plugin, scroll lock lights up, even thru RDP.
tnx.

when set <writefile>false</writefile> the file blinky.rec is still created ?!?
it would be nice, when the light goes on, even when gbpvr is not active.
in my case, the frontend is not always loaded ....

Id' like to add my support to this plugin. Unfortunately I don't have scroll lock light either Sad

But it's a fantastic idea. How about adding support for multiple cards? ie. If only one card is recording it flashes once, if 2 cards are recording it flashes twice then pauses etc.

If I was able to use it I would love this lol

Great work nevertheless!

Hi rw mech,

I tried this plugin and as hard as I tried to make it blink, it wouldn't. I tried setting the refresh rate down to 10000. I tried changing the flash from false to true and I tried both together and still it would not flash. I have a scroll lock light on my keyboard, but all it would do is come back on steady if I turned it off. I have two cards and all I could think is that it may only work for the one that isn't encoding. That all was true until I cranked up gbpvr on my computer. I pretty much dedicate a machine to just taking care of my PVR needs. This means that I don't need to crank the actual program up. I just let it idle in the background as a service. Even though the tray icon is lit and indicating a recording is taking place (and it is), the blinky plugin needs the actual gbpvr program cranked up not just the recording service. If this is the intended purpose, then it is doing great, however if the plugin is intended to show when a recording is happening regardless of gbpvr menu needing to be cranked up then I would say it needs a little more work or I need a little more help figuring it out. The lader may very well be the case. I want to thank you for taking your time to help the program be more functional. I look forward to any response you would care to share. Thanks again for your time.
