I tried it, and it will do what you want.

It was actually used as part of the name mapping process for those that use the broadcast DVB EPG option, but I realised afterwards that it'd help you out too.

That's great! Thanks for taking the time to think about the problem. I'll give it a go tonight.

You know, I just twigged that the ATSC system also supports an in-band EPG stream. (Our ATSC television has its own guide updated OTA in the background.) I wonder if any of the receiver card drivers support an API?

Its not really something the drivers need to support. I could add support for the ATSC EPG if I wanted, but it looked like a lot of work, and (from what I've read) most broadcasters dont transmit anything more than the next two hours worth of listings, so it didnt seem worth it.

What exactly is the problem you get?

The problem discussed here really related to digital channels getting given inappropriate channel names. For example "4.1 WUNCDT" ends up with the name "59 WUNCDT", where 59 is meaning list (its the physical channel its being transmitted on).

I had fixed mine so the digitals showed but they disappeared again today. I just looked at zap2it and they were all gone from my lineup again. Argh! I realize it's a freebie service but I wish they'd stop screwing with it...

I fixed my digital channels. What you have to do is delete all the channels and then go through the process of updateing the EPG and then map digital channels.

I wish that they would not have renamed from the old analog channel number to the new digital channel number it is hard to check the channel number when I am used to seeing NBC on 6 and now it is 19 my ABC went to 43.

Sub and other folks using zap2it for ATSC channels:

I was able to edit my gbpvr.db3 CHANNEL.display_name cells to get the GB-PVR EPG to list all digital OTA channels under the common PSIP "major.minor" format, as used in all the guides EXCEPT labs.zap2it.com . Worked great!

However, GB-PVR failed the EPG update. I logged in to labs.zap2it.com and found out that they changed their own listing format to correspond to PSIP "major.minor" format, just like http://www.zap2it.com.

This is optimal, actually, but it also means that all my fellow ATSC tuners are going to have to go through the old GB-PVR channel delete/reallocate routine AGAIN.

lol. Can you zip and attach one of the new zap2it.xml files so I can take a look at what they've changed this time?
