Erik, good news!

I found I had left one thing out of my previous testing of using the Hauppauge remote to control comskip. I had setup my ini section as the name of the comskip .txt file that I was testing with, but forgot to list it in the applications list at the top of the ini. Using the standard Hauppauge software you can control comskip's edit window with the remote, but doing so standardly will require a portion of the window title to be consistent.

If you can make a build that titles the window "Comskip - <filename>", I'll be happy to share my ini settings (not that it's rocket science) and do some testing for you.

Enough people have asked for some way to do their editing from the couch that I'm sure this will be a hit. With Video Library's support for custom options associated with the Transcode button, it'd be easy to launch comskip in edit mode, make edits, and launch comclean or a transcode all from the comfort of your couch with only the remote.

Thanks again for all your continued and outstanding efforts with comskip.

can someone post the exact thing to type in to process a clip named 'movie.mpg'?

i.e.

1. Go to DOS window.
2. Go to directory of comskip
3. Type comskip movie.mpg, etc.

I also don't know how to bring up that window w/ all the colors and lines.

"what's a single parameter the file name of the generated file listing the commercial"?

========================
Editing the list of commercials

For those that want to review the results of ComSkip a cutlist editor function has been added to ComSkip. When ComSkip is started with as single parameter the file name of the generated file listing the commercials a mpeg preview window will open with at the top the timeline showing the location of the detected commercials. This will allowing for easy checking, editing and subsequent saving of the list of commercials.

I just wish there was some way to control the comskip window via the remote, but as it uses a console window, I've not found a way to do that.

link please?

ok...i think i got it working.

Step 1:
1. d:
2. d:\gbpvr\
3. comskip movie.mpg

Step 2:
1. d:
2. d:\gbpvr
3. comskip movie.txt

that will bring up the editing window. i can press f1 for help. I'd press 'b' for beginning of commercial. 'e' for end of commercial. do i press 'n' to jump to next beginning of commercial? i think pressing 'n' brought up the end of the next commercial block.

problem is my window is sized weird...squeezed together. like 200 wide and 600 high. can't move it. tried editing properties of the command prompt window and that kinda helped w/ command window, but not the one that brings up movie.txt.

also, is it possible to skip 10 frames at a time? mine only moves one frame w/ push of arrow and slow.

Step 3: comlean

1. d:
2. d:\gbpvr
3. d:\comclean5.bat ( i slightly edited the mencoder to input 'movie.mpg' as the default value yielded an error message..no clue what the other commands are doing)

===contents of batch file:==
"c:\program files\mplayer\mencoder" "movie.mpg" -edl "%~dpn1.edl" -oac copy -ovc copy -of mpeg -o "%~dpn1_clean.mpg"
===

btw, if anyone else has another suggestion or a different batch file i can use, let me know. all my fiels are called movie.mpg for simplicity. something like the section of code i posted earlier would be great.

that comcut5.bat thing...i don't think it cut out all the commercials...i'll have to look again. 300 mb file came down to 250 mb file. i had tested it on a 20 min clip recording around 10:50 to 11:10...and started off w/ a commercial at 10:50.

Comskip requires the ratio of show versus commercial to better then 60/40
so it may not work on short recordings with a lot of commercial.

YOu can use the mouse to position the current frame position.
Click on the timeline where you want to go.

The arrow (up/down/left/right) keys and the pageup/down keys can also be used to move the current frame
The screen size can not be changed, its fixed and scaling is automatically applied when it would get too big.
What was the size of the mpeg you tried to view?

This is implemented in build 63 for your testing Big Grin

You can change the window title in the ini file
windowtitle="Comskip - %s"
to use "Comskip - filename"
or
windowtitle="Comskip"
to use "Comskip" only as the title.

I made some other changes in build 63 and have not yet fully finished the testing. Commercial recognition may be a little worse.........
