My Hauppayge 150 S-Video is suppose to connect to My SAT box right. From there audio and video cables from my sound card to my SAT box.

Is this correct?

Now if I want to access my "HTPC/PVR" through the VNC application, and not through my TV, and use it as a type of server, do I still need a cable connected to my Video Card?? Please help I am Stuck again!

Thanks, Rich.

I think you have it backwards... SAT Svideo out to 150 input, and SAT audio out to 150 audio input.

Regarding VNC, it's great for monitoring and configuring a gbpvr box that doesn't have an attached keyboard and mouse, but don't expect to be able to playback videos through VNC and watch it on your remote monitor. VNC can't keep up. You can use web admin for that, or install gbpvr in client mode on the other PC, but you won't find much to enjoy trying to playback a video over VNC.

Hey wtg,

So if I don't have a cable hooked up from my video card to my tv would I still be able to view on my TV?

And I am just using VNC to configure the puter.

There obviously need to be some connection to the TV if you're going to watch the movies on the TV. For video you mentioned your have composite or DVI output from your video card - you'll need to use one of those and connect it to the TV's input.

For sound you'll either need to use your PC's speakers, or if you're like most people around here you'll want to connect the PC's sound card output to your TV's input or your audio receiver's input. Your sound card will have one or two outputs. You can use another RCA to 1/8" mini-plug adapter to run the sound card's output to your TV or audio reciever's input via RCA stereo cables - this is the easiest. Alternatively, if your sound card supports it you can run it's SPDIF output to an audio receiver for full digital sound.

I totally understand now, the above clears it up.Smile

Now I am trying to get my remote working with my receiver. I am trying to find the infra-red source so I can put the receiver within the 2 inch radius.

Hey, I have A viewsat Extreme, I tried last night to find the IR source. I put the IR transmitter from the Remote control on the left hand side where I thought the IR source was. I shined the light in there could not make it out. Still the STB is not receiving the codes???

I can see the little red light light up when runing through the codes but my STB does not turn off or on. I installed the WIN TV 2000 application and it states it already installs the IR blaster software. When I go to Start > Programs > WIN tv > IR Blast config and try to run it from there it doesn't get the codes. When I click on the GO green button, an application does appear but no options to configure?

um... yeah, you might be having problems with signal strength, even if you find the receiver, you might need to take the casing off of the LED and point it striaght at the receiver to work. this is a well known issue with the PVR150 IR blaster.

it looks like its over on the left side somewhere

they seem to have serial ports, if you can find a executable that works with them that could be an option

I am just going to uninstall everything try and follow these instructions I got from Hauppauge and make sure all drivers are updated and installed. If that doesn't work... I guess I will try that serial port option. How does the serial port option work?

And thanks to you guys for helping the inexperienced!!! The noobs and I appreciated!
