@ Pexcer and Zeltac...

Here's another build... 827...

It's added a bunch of logging so I can see more accurately where the errors are starting...

Again, Please attach both the current log and the ZProcessRegSettings.txt in a zip file...

Thanks... OK. If anything, you're certainly helping me set the logging up so I can pinpoint stuff better... Thanks

I'd like you to try this next build: 828...

http://members.shaw.ca/ztest/ZProcess/ffmpeg.zip

Again, all it's doing is adding some logging code. I'm having a hard time figuring out what you (on purpose or inadvertantly) are doing...

The only log files I need are ZProcess.log from the current day's backup folder, and the ZprocessRegSettings.txt from the ZProcess folder...

Also, this is the procedure I'd like you to follow...

  1. Start ZProcess
  2. From File tab, Browse to an AVI file. Select it.
  3. On the Transcode tab, select Trans2MVP profile
  4. Start the transcode
  5. If you have installed VLC, click the VLC button and see if currently transcoding file (it is transcoding right now, isn't it?) is playing OK...
  6. Close the VLC window
  7. You can press 'Stop' to end the transcode prematurely
  8. Close ZProcess...

Send log and reg file...

Code:
1/3/2007 9:40:59 PM : AVIGetFileInfo with API: ???x??? : Z:\@Transcode@\Louis Theroux's Weird Weekends\nationalism.avi

The API I called is pretty strong, and then one I used before. the ??? indicate that it's unable to get dimensions from the AVI. That would mean that the AVI is non standard...

What does it look like in GSpot?

Here's a shot of one of my files in GSpot...

The AVI API that I have been using a while has always been able to open and read dimensions of any avi I could throw at it...

This happens with other avi files i am using and other formats as well. in all cases i cant see the mencoder option. Also the same files were encoded well with other encoders including ffmpeg. Hope tha helps. i will be away from home today but i would be happy to test any other stuff you may want tomrrow.

Is there anyone else out there, using the ZProcess having this problem?

@Zeltak, I have no idea what is going on. I have seen two problems...

One is that Zprocess is unable to get the dimensions of an AVI file using fairly standard API

Two, MEncoder won't show up in the list...
"MencoderPath"="C:\\Program Files\\devnz\\gbpvr\\Third Party\\mplayer\\mencoder.exe" means that ZProcess should add to the list. (Even if the file doesn't actually exist - you could even have the text "This file does not exist" and it would add MEncoder to the list - which now that I think of it I should change Big Grin )...

edit: changed, see below

I notice your transcode folder uses '@' signs. It's a real shot in the dark, but maybe that's having something to do with it...

I know that we all have our computers setup differently... But I'm thinking it has to be something else... OS, Regional settings, Codecs, Conflicting software resident in memory

I'm at a loss. Could be reinstall time

BTW, I noticed that you have also been trying to transcode MPG to AVI, which is whole different all of wax...

Try loading several AVI (not transcoding) with this new build 834. Let's see if it has trouble getting dimensions on all the AVIs you try...

ffmpeg.zip

I added further logging and changed the way ZProcess confirms the existence of MEncoder... Now by default it searches C:\Program files\mplayer which is the default install directory for mencoder...

It also copies the ZProcessRegSettings.txt into the Current days Backup folder so both logs are in the same place now...
