EDL made no difference.

I recorded "The Office" tonight. Went to play it, no skipping. Hit the blue button on the mvp remote, and the commercials are visible in the time-line.

The recording happen to begin with a comskip also, so I hit stop and went to my computer, and removed the first comskipped range (which began with 1-).

When I go back to the recording, the commercial skip works. I'll have to play with it a bit more and test if I can just increase the initial skip number from 1 to say 100...

Oh, one question...

What is performing the commercial skip feature, the MVP or the GBPVR code?

I guess the gbpvr code. There was a post yesterday about comskip from sub. He advised to turn on edl in comskip.ini, it should improve the com skipping.Smile
Code:
output_edl=1
AMD Athlon 64 3000, HDD: 80, 120, 200 GB, Hauppauge 350 + 150, MVP, Asus 6000L Laptop client, Asus X50sl client,
Fritz!box 7140 modem/router, GBPVR 1.3.7.

Did that, made no difference. Very first thing that recorded with it on, as I posted above ("The Office") ignored the comskip data until I removed the first range.

Just upgraded from 98.8 to 99.5 and have the same issue.
Thought I’d search on it before starting a new thread.
I’ve also noticed that remote operation is sluggish and the mpv reboots more frequently than before.
I guess the only reason I upgraded was because I was hoping -date sort- was re-added to the video library in one of the last few releases, and the new version of TV Listings doesnt work with 98.8.

Jim, are you wireless or using a wireless bridge?

I'm still playing with it, but I am 99% sure now what is causing it, and how to fix it.

When the comskip data's first range begins with frame 1, the recorded show begins to play, and more often then not, does not skip the first or any of the comskip ranges. If I stop the playback and run over to the computer and either remove the first range of the comskip data, or increase the 1 to say 100... then go back and play the recording, all works fine.

I only have the problem when I use my MVP, which is connected to the main computer via a wireless bridge. If I play the same recording on my computer via GBPVR, all the skips work, even when they start at frame 1.

A quick fix which seems to work is... when you realize that comskip is not working, key in '999' to toggle comskip off, hit stop to leave the playback, start playing the recording again, then hit '999' to toggle comskip back on. You'd think you wouldn't have to stop playback, just toggle it off and back on, but this does not work for me.

If this fails, you can always edit the first range in the comskip data. I'm still playing with this, but if this turns out to be the issue, it would be nice to have a postprocess that does it automatically.

I ask once again though, what software is acting upon the comskip data during playback on MVP? Is that something within GBPVR code, or inherent within the MVP?

I need to run a long wire to see if this problem happens in a wired environment.

Frame numbers don't matter in my case, it doesn't work (most of the time I think). I did change the edl setting in comskip.ini and I do have edl-files with the recordings. I reset the edl-setting in config.xml, seems that now things work again.Smile This is all via the mvp.
Just to be complete, I added my logs.
The last gbpvrexe.log is the one with edl disabled.
gbpvrexe-2.log is the one with the edl enabled thus nonfunctional skipping.

GBPVR is reading the comskip information...

I found the edl reference in comskip.ini:
output_edl=1

But I did not find anything in config.xml or in the config program or anywhere else that set GBPVR to use the edl file. What edl-setting in config.xml are you talking about? (link?)
