I've played around with the quartz.dll thing. I think I'm on the old one, I can check...

I'm surprised I even got VMR7 to work. It didn't work before. It may not work on HDTV, my aerial is unhooked for now. I had to run a new coax and still haven't gotten my lazy butt into the attic to finish the job.

I'm not sure which video decoder I'm using. My choices are ATI MPEG Video Decoder or CyberLink Video/SP Decoder (ATI). I'm on "System Default" right now, whichever that one is.

People usually reboot in safe mode to replace this file, otherwise Windows restores it. (there are other methods too)

BTW: Disabling the Windows File Protection in XP SP2 is a PAIN. Sad

Time to go play volleyball, I'll try more when I get back home.

OK, what I did to keep it from copying over was I put the old quartz.dll into the dllcache folder within system32. I don't know for sure why I didn't do that before. Was much simpler than the other crud I read on that intraweb thingy. Going to double-check the version after the reboot and give it all a shot.

OK, here's the scoop at the moment.

VMR9 is much better with the old quartz.dll when playing back recordings.
It is VERY choppy on live HDTV.

VMR9 Fullscreen Exclusive seems to work better. I'm testing to see how it is with recordings right now.

The Fullscreen thing seems to be new. What's different?
