any hardware transcoder cards?

Just out of curiosity, what sort of transcoding do you guys want to see? Mpeg to Mpeg transrating or Mpeg to AVI, FLV etc. transcoding?

I suspect that the need for a Transcoder card in this case would be to offload processes for MPEG to MPEG transcoding, so you could take a large format HD and view it on the MediaMVP...

Methinks that an 'anything' to MPEG (mediaMVP format) would be good...

indeed mpeg HDTV (720p & 1080i) to mpeg SDTV (480i => 720 x 480 @ 30fps)

i played a bit with graphedit and apparently it might be possible to transcode while recording. right now i'm using the ATI avivo codec to save mpeg HD instead of dvr-ms. not sure yet HOW to change the settings in the codec while dumping (recording).
