MyVideos slowly dying

I think you underrated the auidence. I think the three (aside from the internal one) out there each do a great job, but all do something great differently from the rest.

MyVid still reigns for me because it keeps the mess of vids I have together, yet separate (our's and the kids, the shows apart from the movies, the home movies totally separate, etc).

I still wish it were possible to release to code to someone to upkeep. Even if it meant ripping out or protecting the stuff you don't want to share. It would be great just to have the portion that did the directories, even w/o the burning and other functions. I would put in the time to figure out how to put the IMDB portion back in time.

Btw, while this may be a small number of people, I am finishing up a ColdFusion MyVid/IMDB proxy page. If you have CF installed on your lan, it may be for you.

Basically, it will show the contents of the DB, let you click a file, and do the IMDB lookup, and have that insert into the DB. It will also clean out content you've deleted that is still in the DB. I hope to have it in a week or so. I'll also be just giving away the pages, so ppl can make it work the way they want (I assume anyone w/ CF installed knows how to program it).

Yes that is the file I was talking about. No I don't mind sharing the changes but just want to let you know when I started I had no idea what I was doing. I played with it for a while the other day and was determined to figure it out. My xml only has the imdb settings because that was all I copied and pasted into the new one to see if I could get it to work. I have done about 10 or so lookups and everything appears to be working good for me. Attached is my xml so you can give it a try. Just make sure to back up your original.

Very cool...I didn't see this until after. Thanks so much for doing that. I didn't realize it was a page outside of the plugin like that.

I'll probably still finish my ColdFusion page, too. It's purpose would switch to allowing you to change the poster to somethign custom (I found something that should handle the long binary insert), and edit the lookup. It will also have the DB cleaner (removes all entires that a) have no title, b) no poster or c) have not been seen (to keep that flag intact)).

Dark-half, you are not so dark after all. The file works well, and IMDB lookup works again. One minor issue, it pulls garbage data for description for TV material from IMDB. Not a big deal, this should keep My Videos running for a while. Thanks a bunch.

I too miss the MyVideos plug-in, enough to pay for it or to dust off my C compiler if the source ever becomes available.
