I figured it out and got it working. Thanks for your help.

What video decoder is best to be using? I'm just using the system default. How do I know which is the system default?

Its best to explictly pick decoder rather than relying on 'system default', where windows picks some random one. Its hard to tell which is the system default, but it is listed in the GBPVR.exe-native.log file.

For recommendations do a forum search.

I am having a similar problem.

I have a Hauppauge HVR-1600 (with QAM) running under Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit. My video card is an nVidia Geforce 6600 GT.

Whenever I tune to a digital channel (QAM) GB-PVR crashes. I hear sound for a brief moment but I never see any video. I've tried various combinations of decoders/renderers/multiplexers and this always happens if I tune to a digital channel. I've also tried disabling hardware-assisted decoding.

By the way, I can see all the channels fine (without crashing) in the tiny "preview window" when I do the digital channel mapping.

(FYI, everything on the analog tuner works fine.)

Here is a set of logs.

Are you able to do a recording and play it back in another player like WMP? or even play it back in PVRX2? Does it only happen with live tv?

I can record fine from the digital tuner (as long as I'm not watching while it's recording).

I can play back the recording in Windows Media Player.

When I try to play back the recording in GB-PVR it crashes.

Does any message get logged in the Windows Event Viewer at the time the crash occurs?
