yes, i'm sure that i'm using the wintvcap plugin. Gets better recording quality here.......

Another odd issue happend for 2 minutes. I've scheduled a season recover of "Jamie Oliver's Twist" from TV Guide. The entry "Season record" entry is done in Recordings, but the colour of the entry in the TV Guide does not change.
Perhaps because of the ' ......

I have already issued some scheduled recordings. Season and normal. With both the colour changes. Only the mentioned one does not.

sub tell me which log this should point out ? [Image: smile.gif]

You might need to zip and email your gbpvr.mdb so I can take a look.

Recording quality will be the same with GB-PVR and WinTVCap if you're using the same resolution and bitrate. The one area that WinTVCap will differ is the [PREFILTER] section of its ini file doesn't yet have an equivalent in GB-PVR. This make WinTVCap a little more tweakable, but other than that they do same things to record.

Looking good!

Damned work is keeping me away from doing other things atm, but I can't wait to give some of this a try.

Overall, a good release. I am impressed with how far this has gone. I do have a few concerns that I hope might be addressed.
I was able to test the 350 output and MediaMVP last night, and I noticed a few things.

1: Is FF and REW working yet? I didn't get a chance to see if I was mapping commands right, but on both the 350 and MVP, I didn't seem to have FF and REw

2: On the MediaMVP, I know there needs to be some tweaking done, but one major thing that stuck out for me was the overlay. Whenever the overlay was on, it dimmed the output of the video on the screen. Is there a way to fix this?

3: On the 350 output. The OSD and video playback seem to be a little fuzzier than what I am used to seeing on the output with Wintv2000 or SageTV 2.0 for example. Is there a way to tweak this?

FF/RW should be working on the PVR 350. Try holding the button for a couple of seconds. For some reason the PVR350 sometimes seems to ignore the first request to change speeds (probably something I've done wrong - no documentation and all that...).

FF/RW is not enabled on the MVP, but skip forward/back is. I've not had time to work out how they do this yet. I hope to have it going in the next release, but it all depends on my successful reverse engineering of the Hauppauge software.

Yes, it does dim. There is nothing I can do about this at this stage, and would need changes to be done by Hauppauge to change this. The current mechanism is better than no OSD, and I'm sure alot of people havn't even noticed.

In the properties for the Direct Recording plugin you can set the recording quality. The default is not set too high because I cause problems for some of MVP users.

Sub,
Thanks for the good release. But, I do have a few issues with the use of the hauppauge remote without running ir.exe:
-yellow button doesnt work in music library. nothing is added to the queue!
-change volume in main window doesn't work
-full button doesn't work.
I like not having to run ir.exe as I can minimize gbpvr and control everything using the tv-screen.

A question is whether it would be possible to have the seconds skip forward for audio playback as well?

When playing a file that is recording playback stops after a while and the menu-screen appears.

I had two failed recordings. One was directly after having installed v0.14, one was when programming after the show had started.

but great work!

Sorry I forgot to add the yellow and full keys to the list that can be processed by the direct IR functionality.

Microsofts MPEG (specifically mpeg2 splitter filter) determines the file length at the time playback begins. When it reaches this point it stops playback. Alternatively, if I tell this mpeg2 splitter filter that the file is still growing, it disables the ability to seek within the file. This is Microsofts documented behaviour. This is why you cant currently seek (skip forward/back/rewind/fast forward) etc in livetv mode. I'm working on my own replacement mpeg splitter filter, but its tough going and the documentation is non existant.

Failed recordings are top priority. To help me track it down I really need the following:

What recording plugin are you using: Direct/WinTVCap
What time period was the program expected to record
GBPVRRecordingService.exe.log from \windows\system32

I have gad acouple of failed recordings (or partial failures).  I was recording 3 programmess on the same channel one after each other.  The first recorded ok, the next 2 both only recorded for 1min 57 secs.
It should have recorded 3 seperate 1 hour programmes.
I tried this again today and again I have had the same result.
Probably something stupid done by me when setting it up, but its strange they all recorded for exactly 1.57
