I prefer to see the extensions. I only use MVP as client. If like last week or so, somebody reports a problem with playing avi's it is easy for me to check if it works on my setup.

So this option never got added to hide or show file extension? To me it would look so much better not to see them!

Yeah, its still something I intend to add. I just forgot to do it for 1.4.7.

Just a thought sub but would it be possible to add a filetype icon when removing the extention. Filetype icons could be stored in a specific skin folder and with the extentions as the filename (mpg.png, ts.png, dvd.png, etc). This way the file type would still be viewable but the names would be cleaner.

I'm imagining something like:

Or could it be incorporated into the highlight bar, or the bar's position (appearing in a diff part of the screen) ?

Good idea. Showing only the file type of the selected item, that would make the above screen shot look less "busy".

The plugin Videos Library have the possibility to hide the extension.

I prefer to see the extension, as I have both avi and mkv.
So I hope it will be a setting... Smile
