I've tried more than one mux, including two versions on the cyberlink and one of the intervideo ones and its the same with any of them. But, I haven't Microsoft's... where can I get it? or what is the specific file I should look for?

The Microsoft DVR-MS mux is always available on XP SP1 and higher. It isnt listed in Mux Checker utility.

I'm not really sure. In the logs it looks like the device fails to lock onto a signal so no data is ever delivered to GB-PVR.

I dont know if it'll help or not but you could try this new Hauppauge utility that was posted: http://www.shspvr.com/smf/index.php?topic=11196.0. It might provide some useful insight.

Hmm... everytime I was Live TV it shows a screen that says signal not detected for a few seconds before the feed comes up. I wonder if its related to that.

That tool is pretty cool, I get right at 31 for all but one of my channels, and I get virtually no errors. Is that a strong enough signal to record?

I have noticed that, even after I installed the patch to correct this, I get a signal detection error when I first start watching live TV. The signal strength is at around 12 for a full 9-10 seconds before the error pops up and then tv starts to play. I wonder if this relates to why I'm not locking in to record.

Also, if I pause live TV the whole thing just crashes. Very curious.

Any thoughts... anyone? or should I just pull out the 1600 and go back to the trusted analog 150?

dmporch,

I also get around 31 for signal in Raleigh and the 5-10 secs delay when tuning to QAM, but I can record without crashing. My problem with the 1600 card is losing video and/or audio in pvrx2 when switching from QAM to analog and vice-versa (with live preview off and DVR-MS BDA mux). Anyone encounter this?
Don't know much more to give you, other than pausing live tv with live preview on starts recording (for time shifting).

I'm fairly sure another user that had this problem said enabling live preview fixed this problem for them.

This may be old news, but the HVR-1600 models that have the RCA conectors on the back of the board do not have a Qam capability.
Only the Models with the Mini plugs. (UPC code ending in 01178 and being product code 74021 and product code 74041.) (Product codes 74031 and 74551 do not support QAM.) We have tested them in WinTV v.6 and know this to be true.
Have not tested in GbPVR. Our OTA amplified antenna gives everything that our local Comcast does on QAM; so, we do not plan on testing in GbPVR anytime soon. (Too busy). Later we will.

There is a patch that resolves this problem in the V1.0.16 Survival Guide thread. Maybe it affects locking into the signal for recording also.

EDIT: Sad Sorry, I should have read the post a little slower and I would have seen that you already installed the patch.
