In that case it didn't seem to change anything. Gonna give it a rest for now because my two year old has a cold and keeps waking up Wink. Thanks for your help and for the great new release. Will post logs later.

PS....EVR is now working nicely for me in TV, except nothing happens when I hit the DVD option!

Ok, post the logs when you get a chance. Also include the config.xml in your zip.

It showed up before the upgrade, and that's the only thing that changed. I believe you had posted the name of a util to find out which codecs you have installed? I had it, but I can't find it (and forget the name haha).

Quote:How long is it taking live tv to start on you machine? If it takes too long (like struggling to find directshow decoders etc), then this can cause it to popup the 'no signal' message. You could try increasing the value in the <NoSignalPopupDelay> setting in config.xml.
Yeah it is taking a long time. My computer is fairly powerful:

AMD64 4200+ Dual Core
2GB RAM
512MB ATI Video card (PCI Express)
Hauppauge Nova-S.

What do you recommend for hardware? I'm guessing using a budget card doesn't help my case. What card do you use for satellite?

It only looks for certain categories of directshow filters, not including the category that contains decoders. You can check the name with a utility like GraphEdit, or the filter manager from http://www.softella.com/dsfm/index.en.htm

I'm sure it will relate to the name not being correct in config.xml. This is the only reason we've ever seen for a decoder not showing up.

Slow startup of live tv can happen if you have too many directshow decoders installed, or if you have one or two badly behaved ones installed. This type of delay occurs when GB-PVR asks directshow to "connect it all up". The only solution to this is removing decoders etc, preferrably any badly behaved ones. (no, I dont know how to tell which decoders are badly behaved, other than noticing a speed up when they're removed)

SmileThis solved my wake from hibernate issue with 1.0.16!
(I know the OP is having this problem with .5)
Excellent - now when the PC wakes from hibernate, PVRX2 is closed & then re-starts itself.
Thank you Sub!

Added that line and it didn't work. With the previous version, I had got to the stage where adding this did work, but then there was the error messages with the menus.

Also, I am beginning to get a slight suspicion that purevideo isn't working with hardware acceleration with the latest Nvida drivers for me. When I enable hardware acceleration, I get a lovely pixelated psycholdelic screen. Just found that in passing BTW, but it may cause me to revert to a pre 1xx series driver on my 6200AGP.

You are correct. I'm not sure what changed in the upgrade, but the decoder is called Elecard MPEG-2 Video Decoder, and it was missing the - in MPEG-2.

I have it working pretty smooth now with some experimentation and following your instructions. I cleared out a lot of MPEG2 decoders I wasn't using (but had tried to get things smoother). Then I added my old Hauppauge PVR150 card and installed the drivers (and codecs), which for some reason gave me a 'Main Concept' Multiplexer to choose from in the config app. Now TV is smooth as glass. But I was still occasionally having the 'no signal' problem, so I changed that setting you mentioned earlier, and now almost everything is going great.

One last problem (I think I mentioned it before), the remote does not respond when I first launch any live tv channel. This only applies to PVRX2. However, if I VNC in (because I don't have a keyboard/mouse attached to my pvr), and click on the screen once, PVRX2 responds immediately to the remote's commands.

I'm just guessing that something is stealing the focus away, but I'm using FSE, as EVR wasn't giving the proper aspect ratio (even after the patch was applied). Any ideas?

I'll add this version of the name to the master file.

This will most likely mean something has stolen the focus. The usual culprit is a tray icon. Try running it in window mode (with VMR9 Custom) so you can see what trayicon gets added when this happens.
