sub Wrote:I had a good experience with my 2600 Pro on Vista so decided to update the 9250 in my lounge HTPC to a 2600 Pro also (thinking ahead to the H.264 Freeview starting). Unfortunately things havnt gone as smoothly as on my Vista setup. The HTPC is running XP, and I've also got problems with the tickers not being smooth. The picture itself is pretty good, and seems to deliver slightly better colours than the old card, but the ticker is far from smooth. I've only just updated the video card today, so havnt spent much time looking into it yet.
It could be one of many of the AGP problems that have been present since Catalyst 7.8 which seems to manifest on older hardware (nforce2 generation) that do not have any updated chipset drivers.
Supposedly, 7.12 will solve a lot of the UVD issues with the AGP varients (as the UVD is not used correctly on certain setups). Hopefully, it'll solve the Direct 3D and installer issues I was having as well (although I doubt I'll switch systems again to test).
I got impatient and switched my nforce2 system to something newer and everything works great. I had the same problem with the ticker; I found that using the Cyberlink PowerDVD 7.8 codecs worked better, but I would wait until the 7.12 drivers come out before doing anything drastic if that's what you're considering.
