err - is this the missing link about to be reveiled ! Smile

What is the satellite.ini file - I see files in the BDA\dvb-s folder like 1234.ini
Now I have not done anything to these. I only added the entry in the BDA.ini file so that the card was recognised as it is a new one.

cheers

When you selected what satellite you use, behind the scenes it relates to one of these .ini files. These files contain the list of frequencies GB-PVR will scan for channels.

For example, if you were using 'Astra 1C' then behind the scenes it is using 0020.ini, which contains:
Quote:[SATTYPE]
1=0020
2=Astra 1C

[DVB]
0=6
1=10964,H,22000,12
2=11023,H,22000,12
3=11112,H,22000,12
4=11171,H,22000,12
5=11391,H,22000,12
6=11436,V,22000,12

If you only wanted to scan the 11391 frequency, then you could trim out the rest leaving:
Quote:[SATTYPE]
1=0020
2=Astra 1C

[DVB]
0=1
1=11391,H,22000,12

Scanning this would result in a smaller psi.log being produced.

(obviously backup the original file beforehand so you can restore it later)

If you tell me what satellite you're using, I'll tell you the filename. Basically the file name is based on their position in the sky. ie, ASTRA 2B at 28.2 degrees East, so its file name is 0282.ini.

Unfortunately I cant find the cause from that section psi.log.

Do you have access to a web server? If so, the next step would be getting to use a tool like DVBStreamExplorer to record a one minute long transport stream, and then making it available for me to download. I'd then be able to run it through the debug here to see what it doesnt like about the channels names in those broadcasts.

It sounds like a lot of effort but worth doing in the long run, given it'll save others from the same pain in the future.

I've got DVBStreamExplorer but not sure how to drive it.
I've added a satellite and everything is default except the Freq and symbol rate which I have set to 10715000 and sybol rate 22000

---
Astra 2D Satellite (28.2° East)
Transponder 45
Frequency: 10.77325 GHz
Horizontal polarisation
Symbol rate: 22.0 Mbaud
FEC5/6
Channels available SID
BBC One London 6301
BBC Two England 6302
BBC Three 6303
BBC News 24 6304
BBC One NI 6331
BBC Four 6316
CBBC 6317
CBeebies 6318
---

I assume that I just go to plugins and strean the entire strean to disk for a minute.

Is that correct.

Cheers

I dont know - I've never used it, but I know this is a free utility other user have used for recording full transport streams in the past. Alternatively, if you happen to own a pro copy of tsreader, then you could use that.

If your DVBS card is made by Twinhan, then they also have a tool on their website for capturing full transport streams.

I will save the entire transport stream.
I've got it reading data but the free software is a bit limited in that it has to be closed every operation as it only allows one thing to be done each run so its very slow work.

Hi Sub
Happy new year

I've created a streamed capture which is about 61MB and 15s long. I think it should be long enough to see the problem but I made it short to check that it is the right data. So if need be I can make a longer one.

I know it is getting the correct stream in the capture program because it detected the correct NID values and the other transponders.

It is a zip file split over 3 files each max 20MB.

Hope you can recreate the problem.

Well thats annoying - using the same transport stream as you works perfectly for me in GB-PVR.
