You needed to set your directories in the config app to places that exist.

oh heck... do you mean the directories tab? I did that fine and it can access local and network folders.

well I just created a temp file and it works. How dumb am I?
It's very choppy though and the Hauppauge seems to struggle to cope. It actually crashed when I pressed pause (I was hoping that doing that would allow more of the film to be processed).

i can't remember if I altered any of the configuration stuff but I dont think i did. The only one I remember looking at is the Use FFDSHOW post-processing if installed. I'm ticking that now to see if it makes a difference.
Also that ZProcess2 thingie never worked. I clicked on the thingie that adds stuff to windows registry. Do I need to remove it all? Also does the Hauppauge server have to be installed or can I remove it from my system?

The MVP isnt really the right device for watching divx files. It can only natively play MPEG1 and MPEG2 files - anything else it has to try to convert to MPEG2 on the fly, which can be a bit hit or miss. You're probably best to stick with MPEG2 files on the MVP.

Hi Sub, I'm just about thinking that. I'm remembering why I shelved it in the first place.
I have an original unmodded XBox in the loft. Maybe I can get that to stream my DivX stuff on. (oh and I editted my previous post.)

I have just noticed that Hauppage are now advertising MediaMVP as having DivX support http://www.hauppage.com/site/products/da...iamvp.html
I have just asked "Alan" at Hauppage who I have contacted before on this issue to see if a software / driver update will upgrade older MediaMVP units like mine to support DivX (software update: http://www.hauppage.com/site/support/sup...iamvp.html) . I'll let you know what he says. I gave up transcoding on the fly and just buy big hard disks to store .mpg's but one day I'll get into HDTV when files sizes may get silly without a better compression file format.
Adrian.

Hi Adrian
Part of the issue is the actual onboard processor (MPEG1 and MPEG2 only). The MVP can't process DivX (MPEG4) so Hauppauge's solution is to render the image on the PC using software and then streaming that to the box (in MPEG2 format). HDTV on the MVP is impossible anyway and again files in that quality will need to be rendered and downscaled before being streamed. Nick

n_s_simpson Wrote:Hi Adrian Wishful thinking on my part perhaps, but I was wondering if they had a firmware upgrade now which would allow MediaMVP to process DivX/MPEG4 natively? Although I got GBPVR transcoding on the fly working I found the hard disk quickly getting cluttered up with the .mpg files generated so abandonned that approach. I'll wait a while and let the dust settle and bug fixes / enhancements come in for PCH and then give that a try I think. Cheers
Adrian.
