Or just add the lines from Dabbs above into the cache file in the BDA folder and then go to the map digital channels section and select the entries you've just added - easier than doing a full scan!

Aha! I wondered what those were for. Marvellous, I knew that there had to be a better way of adding channels.

I'm still struggling. Sub has checked my config.exe.log files and thinks there may be a problem with my LNB. I'm using a sky dish and LNB, so I need to find the correct settings for the LNB somewhere so I can enter into gbpvr.

I wounder if I should invest in second dish and new LNB? I think the idea behind Freesat is that people should be able to use there BSKYB equipment so I will continue to research rather than dip into my pockets at present.

I'm pleased steeb found CH4 unencripted. I think they have a contract with BSKYB until the Autum, but were expected to change to FTA when it expired.

I was using a Skydish and LNB and it worked fine - I'll check my settings when home later. When you do a scan from the config prog does it come up with nothing at all? If it finds stuff, what happens when you select an ITV or BBC channel? Do you get it playing in the little window? I assume the dish/LNB worked when connected to a Skybox?

The LNB has 4 output channels. Two are connected to sky boxes which are working fine. When I do a scan in gbpvr it picks up loads (and loads:eek of BSKYB transmissions and I can view FTA channels in the small window. Its just frustrating I do not get the channels I want.

Its good to know it is possible to use a sky dish and LNB though. I'm wondering whether the problem lies with the Blackgold card which is new.

Does anyone know of any software that can scan satellite trransmissions and record signal strength and quality.

If your scanning for Channel 4 You'll probably pick up the encrypted C4
At the moment the unencrypted C4 has a channel name of 8350

Sounds like your scan is probably getting everything. If the FTA channels are working in the preview window then they should all work in GBPVR. As Dabbs says the C4 channel that's labeled C4 is encrypted and wont work. The other one mentioned does. Anything else you cant find?

just thought I'd drop in on day 2 of Freesat UK

I've been messing about since yesterday since looks like this BBC/ITV venture may well soon stop me messing about with my STB and get the channels I want straight through my DVB-S card.

Looks like we have to manually enter some channels after the scan but looking very interesting.

Trying to sort out my EPG at the moment but feels good! Nice that a certain Mr Murduck may no longer have a stranglehold......

How's everyone else getting on with this?

can anyone give me the scan results/mappings for BBC3 + 4? Earlier I did a scan and BBC London was missing but I had 3 & 4, now I've done a scan and BBC London is there but 3 & 4 are missing but they're still showing and transmitting on my Sky Box downstairs :mad:

BBC3 and 4 use the same transponder info as cbbc and cbeebies. As BBC3 and 4 only transmit after 7 PM it depends what time of day you scan.
