Could you dumb that up for me bit?

1. I know how to run telnet from USB
2. What do you mean by checking the syntax? Are you saying to compare the syntax between the USB and the share in the cgi files?
3. How do I load mvpmc?
4. What do I have to do to be able to type the mount command?

Sorry if these are dumb questions. I'm not a linux guy.

1 Load the telnet script that works from USB

2 connect to PCH from PC using telnet.

3 change your Media Source on the PCH to the MVPMC share it should show as a source [SMB] PCH@xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:MVPMC based on what you've written

4 from the telnet command prompt type mount (all by itself) and make note of what it says for it should say something like

Code:
//xx.xx.xx.xx/MVPMC on /opt/sybhttpd/localhost.drives/[SMB]\040xx.xx.xx.xx:MVPMC type cifs (rw,mand,nodiratime,unc=\\xx.xx.xx.xx\MVPMC,username=PCH,domain=,rsize=16384,wsize=16384)

5. still from telnet

Code:
mkdir /etc/hakras
mount -t \\xx.xx.xx.xx\MVPMC /etc/hakras -o username=PCH,password=****,ro

and check for any errors.

I think I have made some progress tonight, but not enough :mad:

I went back to the survival guide and got that working :o

I went through your instructions and have a couple of screen prints for you.

[ATTACHMENT NOT FOUND]

Basicall, it says that it can't find what I mounted. When I use the mount command, it continues without any messages so I'm not sure why it can't find it :confused:

Now that you are back to the survival guide you might have to change the instructions to rw

mount -t \\192.168.0.10\MVPMC /etc/mvpmc -o username=PCH,password=****,rw;

Martin

Sorry if my post wasn't clear. I am successfully connecting to GBPVR using the method in the survival guide. Since I need to make this easy for everyone to use, I want to make it work like the USB version. When using the USB version through a share, I can start Telnet. However, I can not start GBPVR. I get the message below:

mkdir: cannot create directory

I think I'm getting close.

Ok, I'm glad the default scripts work, my work here is done. Your gbpvr.cgi script from earlier does need some work to avoid that error and it is /dev/null not /dev/NULL but that is as far as I'm looking.

Thank you for your help. I got a solution. I am using the index.html file and associated .png files as a start up page. I manipulated the html file to point to the script.cgi and gbpvr.cgi files from the survival guide. This seems to be working for me.

Thanks again for your quick and helpful replies.

Excellent, feel free to share if you understand why it works and are willing to answer questions. I like the small script that I started with because it minimizes the problems that can be caused during configuration and I can take users to a common baseline, but once that is achieved, it's good to know there are creative solutions that will work better.

I am pretty sure that it has something to do with "combined script" that the USB version uses. Once I eliminated the combined script and started using both the script.cgi and gbpvr.cgi files everything worked. I just had to change index.html to point to gbpvr.cgi to start GB-PVR. I also dumped everything in the MPVMC directory (no additional folders). After I use it for a while and I'm sure everything is working, I will post the files I used. Basically, if you can get it to work in the survival guide, you will be able to do this as well. All I did was add a modified index.html from the USB version.

Interesting. I never managed to get my COMBINED script to work from a share or USB drive (see my nightmare with the scripts from post 72 down ...) funny thing is, at least as far as I can make out, our symptoms seem similar. I am running a share on the PC OK, and can get into GBPVR with two scripts using the new index.html but I had a 'mare getting it to autoload as the combo script never worked.
