I re-enabled the analog recorder.

Now I do get Live-View, but only Analog. No matter which recorder (Direct or BDA) is on top in the Config, it only Live-View's analog.

The first thing I try to record will record Digital, then if I try a simultaenous recording, then that goes analog.
When you schedule a recording it looks for the first available captrue source (from the top of the list down) that has the requested channel. Live tv does the same, but in the opposite order, working up from the bottom of the list.

Quote:The analog will play fine, but the digital will crash PVRX2 either right at the start or right in the end (and very occassionally, will play fine).

Both analog and digital files play fine in Windows Media Player.

I've tried both MPV and my old setting of HCW MPEG2 for video decoding.
These are sounding like playback problems, so must relate to the combinations of directshow decoders you're using. All I can really suggest is trying other decoders.

Thanks for all the help.

In order for me to try some decoders, I need to get a bit of a handle on this.

So it looks like only DVR-MS files are crashing the program. So, does that fall under standard MPEG / MPEG-2 decoder, or is it considered the advanced (h.264) area?

Right now, the only decoder I have there is System Default, and FFSDshow (or however it's spelled).

I assume if I have System Default, it uses the FFS codec.

In the US you use MPEG2 for your digital channels.

Yes. You'd probably have to install and try some other decoders.

Wow, thanks for the quick reply.

Turns out it was some kind of sound issue (at least for the crashing).

I set the MPA sound to Decode to speakers, and that did the trick. Unfortunately, it looks like I'm down to mere stereo instead of my 5.1. Oh well.

I unplugged the analog line (to get better signal strength to my TV's internal QAM tuner - less splitters), and didn't really like the analog signal anyway. So I took off the analog capture section (Direct Record), leaving only the BDA.

And now I'm back to the original issue of No Live View.

If I have Live Preview enabled, I only get a blank screen. If I have it disabled, I get a no Tuners available message - even though I'm not recording anything. At that point, I can record the show that I was just not allowed to watch, and can start watching it time-shifted without a problem.

Does Live View not work with the digital on my HVR-1600?

Did you try other video decoders? Which ones did you try?

Thanks for all the help!

Sort of got it working. It wasn't the codecs. It turns out I'm an idiot and had the Live View directory pointed to a non-existent folder. I fixed it by pointing it to a directory that exists (in the Config).

So now it works, as long as Live Preview Mode is unchecked (so time-shift works).

If I check Live Preview Mode, then I just get a black screen.

Probably unrelated, but I've noticed (as before, but I didn't mention it), that the program doesn't seem to delete any of the video I watch. If I watch a show (using the Watch command - time shifted, but not using the Record command), the video file remains in the folder after I exit the program.

I found out today that I have this problem too. HD and SD digital on my HVR 1600 only work when preview mode is turned off. I tried many combinations of mux and renderers. I'm pretty sure this has worked in the past but I haven't tried live digital tv on the PC for months.

It might be worth trying <BDAUseCachedSequenceHeaders> set to false in config.xml to see if it helps.

If it doesnt help, then reproduce the problem and zip&attach the logs and I'll take a look.

If you temporarily deregister GBPVRTSMon.ax, does it help?

When you try it, double check it doesnt show up in the pvrx2.exe-native.log filter list.
