He is saying that the stream CUE is transmitting has a large time differential between the audio and video streams, and the mvpmc demux is unable to handle this. People playing back these files on a PC or PCH might have no problems with these same files, with their respective demuxes able to cope better.

Thanks for clarifying that..I didn't believe "source" could actually mean what was being transmitted!

It would be nice to know if others using the mvp also have problems with CUE? I only picked it to try out as it was one I couldn't get watchable at all with the Cyberlink mux & almost watchable with the ATI mux, but I was still getting problems with all the channels even if most of the others were basically watchable. I will switch back to TS mux tomorrow & test what I get from the other channels.

There can be a lot differences between how channel bitstreams are generated - they use all sorts of different encoders, different encoding parameters, different hardware muxes, etc.

I dont personally use CUE or my MVP these days, so I cant vouch for this particular combination.

Just a couple of things I forgot to mention/ask before.
Is there any way when I change the extension from .ts to .mpg & keep it showing in the Recording screen? The main reason being is the TS recording are lots better than anything I have tried so far it seems to only be the timeline (or whatever it is) that is a problem. Only the first recording I did had a sync issue while watching on the mvp, where as before 9 out of 10 would have it. Even the recording I uploaded played in sync for me, just there was no way to be able to skip as the timeline was screwed a major PITA but at least watchable.

I have a program that I use to rename files that I use via the video library for testing, that you could use to toggle it back and fourth.

Code:
<CustomFFmpegConversions>
<Conversion name="Rename to TS" exe="tsrename.exe" cmd={SOURCE_FILE} {DEST_FILE}" targetExtension=".ts" />

There might be an easier way to do it using cmd.exe /U or something but GBPVR seems to want the source executable in the Third Party folder.

Probably the is easiest is if sub implements <MVPTranscodeTS>false</MVPTranscodeTS> for the MVP client.

If in the directory it has two files like, "whatever recording name 2008xxx xxxxx.ts" & "whatever recording name 2008xxx xxxx.mpg" which one with it try to play back on the MVP??

I also discovered something interesting today, my brother in law reads the forums here even though he runs Myth himself & downloaded the example I uploaded yesterday & when he played it back through Myth it was in sync & the timeline showed correctly & he was able to FF & REW without any problems at all. I will be cutting some other examples to dvd soon for him to try with Myth, the results could be interesting.

Either it will be the one you select however if you select a .ts file it will be transcoded with ffmpeg.

This doesn't surprise me, because Myth plays TS files better then DirectShow but linux is way behind in digital capture because there is no bda driver support.

Fed to mvpmc it shouldn't be better than if it is coming from GBPVR.

Oops sorry slight misunderstanding here I think. I was wondering which one it would play back from the Recordings menu? My thought was to setup a postprocessing.bat to rename the .ts to .mpg & copy a dummy 0 length file into the directory & rename it with the recordingname.ts to fool GB into thinking the xxxx.ts recording was still there so it would still display the program information etc.

That sure won't work. But I believe there is some smarts for the recording service to deal with changed extensions. I'm not sure GB-PVR actually understands how to properly parse TS files for the MVP though.

I haven't been feeling so good today so decided to revisit this problem I'm having. (When I am suffering from Meniere's the brain doesn't always work properly (although it's seem OK to me at the time) so if some of this doesn't make sense please forgive me)

sub: Any chance of this option for the next release?

I have found that when I run a .ts recording with a bad timeline through TS4NP the resulting file is 100% fine & skips back & forward without a problem.

So I am now trying to figure out how I can (if I can?) set up a postprocessing procedure to run the recording through TS4NP & then rename it .mpg & then somehow get the recording.ts in the database changed to recording.mpg.
I have been able to do this by altering the .ts to .mpg in recording-dump.xml & then importing it, is there any way to do this automatically from a batch file?
