you have to manually delete old recordings, gbpvr only deletes the live tv buffer a few minutes after the show has ended.  there are a few plugins that warn you that you are running out of diskspace when you are booking a program, but thats about it.

the answer reven provided was 100% accurate. i had more time to fool with gbpvr last night and the live tv buffer directory cleared itself of old "stale" bufferings when a show ended or i changed channels.

I manually clear the folder on a nightly basis do get rid of any clutter.

You can create a .bat file to do this and use windows scheduler to do it automatically for you.
