Other than that, we may need to find out your PID numbers and create the tuning strings manually.
I get nothing running that program.

When you click a button, it overwrites GBPVR's qam.ini with your selection. You then need to initiate a scan in GBPVR's Config to scan the new settings.

Do I do an Update EPG? What should I look for after I do it?

Yes, it's invisible and extremely fast. What it does is write a new text file to Devnz\GBPVR\BDA\ATSC\qam.ini with the new parameters for the channels scan. It will only give a popup if it is unable to write to that location,in which case it will tell you there was an error and the file is being written to the current folder.

After clicking the option you want, just hit "Rescan" in the channel mapping window. If you selected "Default with channel numbers", you should see it start scanning 2,0,0 - 3,0,0 - etc. If you selected "Default with frequencies", you should see it scanning 507000,0,0 - 509000,0,0 - etc.

Don't appear to have had any luck with that method of scanning either.

How do I manually tune the channels?

Does TSReader Lite work with your tuner? You'll need it to get the video and audio stream PID numbers.

Doesn't work great but it does work. I can't tune a couple of the channels I could with wintv (ones I want) but i'll keep trying.

So, what do I need from this info:
Quote:PAT Version Number: 23

First, weed out the info we need, which is the PID numbers for the program's Video, Audio, and PMT streams (use the integer and not the hex number in parentheses):

Code:
[B][color=Red]PMT PID 48 (0x0030) - Program 1[/color][/B]
PMT PID 49 (0x0031) - Program 2
PMT PID 50 (0x0032) - Program 3
PMT PID 51 (0x0033) - Program 4
PMT PID 52 (0x0034) - Program 5
PMT PID 53 (0x0035) - Program 6
Program Map Table(s)
[B][color=red]Program Number: 1[/color][/B]
Descriptor: Registration Descriptor
Format identifier: 0x47413934 (GA94)

Stream Type: 0x02 MPEG-2 [B][color=red]Video PID 1984 (0x07c0)[/color][/B]
MPEG Video: Bitrate 15.000 Mbps Resolution 704 x 480i
MPEG Video: Framerate 29.97 fps Aspect Ratio 4:3 Chroma Format 4:2:0
Descriptor: User Private Descriptor: 0x86
e1 65 6e 67 7e 3f ff .eng~?.

Stream Type: 0x81 [B][color=red]AC-3 Audio PID 1985 (0x07c1)[/color][/B]
AC3: Bitrate 192 Kbps Sample Rate 48 KHz
AC3: Mode complete main Coding 2/0 L, R
Descriptor: Registration Descriptor
Format identifier: 0x41432d33 (AC-3)
Descriptor: ISO639 Language Descriptor
Language: eng
Audio type: clean effects

And from that info, we can create the following tuning string:

Quote:T:23,0,0~P:1~V:1984~A:1985~PMT:48~N:>23.1 WNBC* (000(AC3))

Here's the breakdown:
  • T:23,0,0 = The channel number/frequency (leave the second and third sets as ",0,0". First number can be a channel number or a frequency (T:217250,0,0).
  • P:1 = The program number.
  • V:1984 = Video PID.
  • A:1985 = Audio PID.
  • PMT:48 = PMT PID.
  • N:>[insert name string here] = Name of channel. Set this to easily identify the channel from the tuning string.

I read a post by sub that (I think) said GBPVR could automatically match the tuning string to the EPG data when the name string in the CACHE tuning data matched the name string in the EPG guide data. Do you happen to know when that matching occurs?

IOW, I'm wondering if I can edit the CACHE file after a tuning scan, change the name string in the CACHE file to match the name string in my XML EPG data file and get GBPVR to automatically connect the tuning string to the guide data.
