Tipstir,

One of the plugins I installed created a postprocessing BAT file.

If the following is not in the .bat file, add it:

comskip %1

By default, If the PostProcessing.bat file does not exist GBPVR will invoke comskip automatically.
If the .bat file is present it must have the above command for comskip in it, for comskip to continue working!

What do you mean by ComSkip doesn't work? Do you mean it it doesn't run and create the .txt file all of the time, or do you mean that the file it creates doesn't catch all of the commercials.
I can only speak for my setup, but ComSkip always runs for me. It takes about ¼, give or take, the recording time to process the .mpg on my 2.0 GHZ P4. So you do have to wait untill it is done for the .txt file to be finished being created before you watch it and GBPVR pick up the results.

As for the renamerecording, I have that working also. Thanks to KingArgyle posting his source. I made a couple minor changes, and it has been running fine for several days.

My postprocessing.bat is as follows

comskip %1 > comskipplus.log
Renameplus %1 > renameplus.log

I renamed the renamerecording to renameplus so I didn't get them mixed up. I was going to post the source back to KingArgyle, but I have one more thing I want to do.

Instead of renamerecording detecting the comskip and renaming it also, I was thinking of running renamerecording first, and have it internally running comskip with the new name. I was getting impatient waiting for comskip to finish to see if rename would work.

The rename works on about 2/3 of the stuff I record, and when it doesn't, there is absolutely no loss of function, and most of the stuff it doesn't rename is by function since they don't have an episode title.

Hi,
Sorry to be late on responding:

...and the play nice times. That way it will not heat up my processor and make the fan turn faster during nice evenings at home...

Hi MaBo,

What did you do to fix this - I just noticed that comskip uses 90%+ CPU time when running, heats up the CPU and causes my rear chassis fan to ramp up by 2000rpm (pretty noisy).

Cheers,
Brian

Just open the comskip.ini file that is located (if you've installed it properly) in the gbpvr directory. Look for the lines with
play_nice_start and play_nice_end
Modify the time to your needs.
Eg. 1700 and 2400 then it will run slower from 1700 til 2400.

I've got comskip v0.62 which I downloaded some time ago. Those lines aren't in the default INI file that I have. I think I'll use the -n switch next time I try it as sean mentioned.

bgowland,
You can also add those lines. Just look at the rest of the ini file for the exact format.

This question will definately show my lack of programming ability. So, if I add to the end of the comskip.ini:

play_nice_start=0100
play_nice_end=0600

Comskip will only run between 1:00am and 6:00am? Do I have this correct?

I haven't used CDK Scheduler, so forgive me if this information is not any more helpful.

One of the creators of ComSkip (or is it THE creator of ComSkip) has developed an app mainly to configure and run comskip independently of any other programs. It can also run other apps if you are creative.

Hmm... I haven't tried that, but I would guess that it means that between 1:00am and 6:00am comskip will run slower than other times, thus making the processor less hot, hence making the fan go slower (hopefully quieter).

Good info. Will try when I get home. This would actually mean that you could get comskip to run while the show is recording. Hope gbpvr will detect comskip files even though the show hasn't finished recording :-)
