thanks for path confirmation:
sub Wrote:.\Media\MenuArt\Default from wherever the gbpvr directory is.

i will try playing around with audio renderers, the problem shows up whenever i want to make use of subwoofer and rear speakers (5.1/3.1/2.1). it seems ok when using plain stereo with no subwoofer (2.0), weird. problem is that i got many codecs installed, hard to get it sorted out... will need to play around with that. thanks.

OK, guys I'm completely lost atm.

if anyone is running similar decoders selection and preferably 5.1 speaker setup let me know what works best for you.

in GBPVR I have following list items:
Video renderer:
-VMR9 Custom (running now)
-VMR9 Fullscreen Exclusive
-EVR Enhanced Video Renderer
-Overlay manager

Video decoder:
-System Default,
-MS MPEG-2,
-Intervideo nonCSS video for hauppauge (this one is worst quality, smudging)
-nvidia video (running now)
-Nero,
-ffdshow,
-MPEG

Audio decoder:
-System Default
-AC3Filter
-MPEG audio
-nvidia audio (running now with 5.1 speakers but audio is not well synced)
-ffdshow (works great but doesn't play audio on rear speakers)
-intervideo audio for hauppauge

I'd like to know what settings work for other people, that maybe already tested some of them before and have better comparison.

OK, i tested most of audio decoders and none of them seem to have perfect sync no matter what settings.
now the bummer, i uninstalled latest GB-PVR 10307 and installed again 10213 and boom all problems with audio sync perished. all works fine on former settings (nvidia video and audio decoders with 5.1 speakers) just as it was before. so what's the catch?

If you use the ac3filter for audio, there is an option to reduce or increase the audio delay to improve the sync with the video.

check this link out regarding setting up ffdshow. It may help you tp get 5.1 working.

ya, i saw those options in AC3filter and Nvidia Decoder Audio properties, but the problem is that for me each channel has a different real audio sync delay when watching TV (either analog or digital) on latest GB-PVR.
i'm running older version now (10213) and all works fine now, not sure why, running same decoders, with same settings. must be some kind of a bug in latest GBPVR that escalates this issue on my setup. i'm too tired to test it further, just missing Slick Skin now heh.

thanks for a link on ffdshow setup for 5.1 speakers! will do some reading later, maybe it will help me solve my problem. if ffdshow can do all same good for video and audio as nvidia purevideo can then that would solve my messy situation. thanks again.

To be honest, I still think its your decoders or setup, otherwise we'd be seeing wide spread reports of it, but we're not.

Given it only seems to happen when you try to use your sub woofer, its almost certainly something to do with your audio renderer, sound card drivers, or audio decoders.

thanks sub. i agree with you that it is about something in my setup. however it all works here fine with WinTV & GBPVR 10213, just latest GBPVR makes it work like that.
all drivers audio & chipset are up to date, as well as decoders (except for nvidia purevideo), but as i say it all works fine with former GBPVR.

might need to check for any recent driver updates for my Hauppauge HVR-1800, maybe that's the reason. haven't tried updating this one yet.

really not sure what's up, for now i will stick to older GB PVR version as it works great for me and i do not need multi-recording feature, etc.

ok, i think i got a clearer picture of the problem now. it seems that older GBPVR runs fine at first (good audio sync), but it looses it over time, especially after commercials it becomes more and more out of sync.

now, i had comskip enabled in gbpvr options, but did not have its executables/dlls in GBPVR folder. it's still possible that NVIDIA Purevideo i got is not working right, i will try switching to ffdshow once i figure out how to use all 6 audio channels with it. not sure if/when older GBPVR uses AC3 (it's not listed as separate decoder entry and i do not choose it for active decoder). may also need to revert to AC3filter 1.46 stable instead of 1.51 alpha.

will keep posted, hopefully over time i will find the root cause of my trouble.
any help appreciated. thanks.

EDIT:
it seems that nvidia purevideo decoders for video/audio suck and loose sync over time. i think i will uninstall them and try using ffdshow instead or some other decoders mix (MPEG-2 & AC3filter or so). still older GBPVR has good sync at first (new one doesn't) but it gets out of sync after some time and only switching channels fixes it (for short time). to hell with purevideo decoder...

quick update. i removed nvidia purevideo (was old anyways) and after googling it came up can cause some audio sync trouble, so it's gone.
removed AC3filter 1.51a and installed stable AC3filter 1.46 (now cannot select it in AC3 decoder field in GB-PVR but who cares hehe
i uninstalled GBPVR 1.2.13 and installed latest 1.3.7 and configured it to use ONLY ffdshow decoders for everything (video, audio and ac3). for now it seems to be working nice and audio synced well... phew, omg too many factors in this equation....

only problem now is getting all speakers to work, but for now all front ones (including subwoofer) work OK, as the matter of fact i can live without the rear ones for TV untill audio is synced well all the time lol

will post back after more testing.

huh! it seems now audio stays sync even after a few commercials (need more testing) and seems that ffdshow play audio over rear speakers as well hihi - it just depends on channel content - i can hear them playing now when watching analog TBS channel - Independence Day Smile
You had good hunch sub, it's been about decoders from the beginning! glad i finally listened to you man Smile all finally cool here!

EDIT:
last update for now. latest GBPVR works fine with ffdshow from beginning after i uninstalled AC3 and nvidia purevideo BS. however as stated above, over time, especially after commercials, audio get slightly out of sync (much better still than before it was). now why on commercials? it doesn't depend on having or not having comskip, but usually on commercials i switch GBPVR to window mode (alt+enter) and browse websites, check emails, etc. and then (alt+enter) come back to full screen mode.
sub, what are the chances that switching between window and full screen modes can cause audio to get slightly out of sync?

sorry for silly questions and bombarding this thread, but i really wanna have nicely running TV after problems i ran into, and have to say i'm getting there slowly hehe Big Grin

UPDATE:
despite of all efforts on switching decoders and playing stuff around i still do have a problem with audio getting out of sync over time in GB-PVR. the longer the PVR plays same channel the more audio becomes offset.
Now interesting thing, recordings even 2hrs long DO NOT have audio out sync, only LIVE TV has this issue.
is there any known glitch or bug or misconfiguration that can cause such behavior?

I'm running Vista x64 SP1, it seems that this behavior exists in Vista only, because when i took a quick glance at XP x64 Live TV was fine over there, but need more testing.

thanks for input. please help, i'm loosing this battle here.
