After using Ghost to restore my system to remove any changes since I first reloaded GB-PVR (latest version). It immediately connected to the server but then the remote refused to work. Based on another post I had read I replaced the dongle.bin file with one that I had saved from the origional Hauppauge install (Hauppage software is not currently installed). I then restarted the MVP by pulling the plug and restarted the Gb-PVR Server. Again the software froze as it did before when it tried to load the application.

I put back the old dongle.bin file and everything loaded fine except the remote doesn't work and I can't turn off the MVP without pulling the plug. (Catch 22)

It seems that the version of the MVP that I have which came with the new remote will not work on GB-PVR due to the change in the dongle.bin file (it will not load). If I load the Hauppage Software first, it must load the dongle file to the MVP which then saves it as part of the initial load.

Then when the Hauppauge software and server is stopped and I turn off the MVP with the remote, the GB-PVR ser can be started and it will load GB-PVR just fine....

Can you look at the new dongle file for the new remote and see what can be done for it to be accepted by the GB-PVR software?

I don't see any way to attach the file here but have sent a copy to support@devnz.com.

Thanks.... [Image: tounge.gif]

Here is another interesting thing that I discovered. My MVP came with Hauppauge software version 2.3.22324. I had found what seemed to be a newer version on one of the message boards version 2.3.22343. I loaded that version first while looking for the problem. Ironically when I did, it did load but the remote did not function. version 43 must be a hacked version of an earlier version of the software. I uninstalled the 43 version and loaded the 24 version and all worked just fine, remote and all.

I then stopped the Hauppauge server, turned off the MVP with the remote, started the GB-PVR server, and GB-PVR loaded right up with remote working just fine.

If using the new remote which now comes with MVP beware of some of the versions out there as they may not support the new remote......

Here it works ok with V 0.22.7 . Load the new version and when powered up the system stops with 2 blue/3 white on the load screen. Replace the DENZ directory with the older version it works again.

DHCP/DNS running on router, no firewalls on machines internally.

Will try replacing the dongle.bin file from 22.7 into the new version and see what happens.

I just got a mediaMVP today, part of the reason I purchased it was the GB-PVR software Wink

But I did run into the issue you describe.. Once this thread mention the dongle.bin file.. I just pulled it out of the hauppauge dir from a CLEAN 22343 install, and renamed the one in the gb-pvr dir orig- Shut everthing down (unplugged mvp) - turned on the gb-pvr server, and fired up the MVP - remote works now.. Booted right up now problems

The software from Hauppauge that came with my MVP had a dongle.bin file that was 1,714KB large and had a newer date that the one that came with GB-PVR. Both GB-PVR and other Hauppauge versions that I have found came with a dongle.bin file that was 1,431KB. The smaller file does not operate my remote.

I did receive the newer 45 button remote with my MVP.

Just out of curiosity what is the size of the dongle.bin file that is working with your GB-PVR program and are you using the newer 45 button remote or the older one with less buttons?

I still have not found a way to make this thing work without first letting the Hauppauge software do the origional Application load with the newer dongle.bin file.

Dude - just copy that dongle.bin file the larger one from the hauppauge dir.

And put in the gb-pvr dir, rename the orig - or overwrite (your call). Restart all the gb-pvr software (recording server and mvp server).. Then boot up your mediamvp.

As I stated in the POST right above yours - this worked for me.
