You have the QAM model selected but it's not finding a signal on any of the frequencies. Do you have a cable connected to the "ATSC" input on the tuner?

Maybe that's the problem, I was under the impression the "tv-in" was for standard cable, and the antenna-in was for atsc/qam. Wintv picks up QAM channels when it searches with the cable plugged in, so I assumed I had the right connection.

So, I tried a cable in the "tv-in" plug, still, nothing.

I wouldn't have bought this thing if I'd known there would have been this much of a headache getting it setup. It was listed as natively supporting QAM with GBPVR in the wiki, so I just assumed it would work more easily.

You logs show no sign of any errors, but never manages to lock onto any signal. Try temporarily removing any splitters or cable boxes and go directly from the wall to the HVR1800. Make sure its connected to the connector labelled 'QAM Digital TV' in the picture on the right side of this page: http://www.hauppauge.com/site/products/d...r1800.html

OK, I'll give it a try. That's the connection I've been using all along, makes sense, since WinTV found QAM channels....is there something different about the way WinTV works that would allow it to get a signal, but not GBPVR?

The only other alternative I can think of is that its not scanning the correct frequencies for your cable operator. You could try the Whurlstons qam.ini manager utility, which will cause it to scan other frequencies.

Is THIS what you're referring to? Also...I'm not at home or I'd find out for myself, is it easy to use? What exactly am I editing?

Yes, thats what I'm referring to. I'm not the best person to give you info on this utility. I'm in New Zealand, so dont use either ATSC or QAM, so havnt used this utility.
