The feature was never implemented when we moved to pvrx2.exe. It wasnt a feature I was interested in myself, and very few people ever used it.

I used this 'type' of feature when I had SkyTV. It meant I could browse channels until a program came on. Was also useful in the days of 'line-in' VCR recording as it would switch the channel on the STB for me.

ah, so I take it the feature did do what we're talking about in the old gbpvr.exe front-end?

That makes more sense... when I discovered what's left of the feature in PVRX2 I couldn't really figure out why it had been implemented, since it didn't do anything terribly useful.

If it did work as intended I could see using it (in cases like my baseball example), but I admit it's of limited audience.

My dad has an old TV that does this by itself. It has a feature built in called Guide Plus that gets an EPG via the cable system. He can select a show he wants to watch and at the assigned time the TV switches to that show. If the TV is off, it will even switch itself on. I guess it wasn't very popular, as I haven't seen it listed as an option for a TV in several years. Sad

I would certinly use a function like that, in fact I'v tried to get it working, as I tend to forget a show I was planning to watch. Instead I record it now, but I'd very much like to see it re-implemented. Please Sub? Wink

Another please Sub from me - this feature is standard now on set-top boxes here in UK (Freeview, Virgin, Sky) and a couple of times, not realising it it no longer works in PVRX2, I have highlighted programs to watch and ended up missing the first half:-(

as a special bonus, I got to use 'serendipitously' in a sentence!

I dont want to commit time to this feature, so if I do reimplement, its only going to be a cut back implementation, that switches the requested channel automatically at the said time. It wont have popups to warn you the switch is going to happen, giving you a chance to cancel it etc.

If it can switch into Live TV from whatever mode you're in, that would be bonus. No worries about warnings and that sort of stuff.
