I had a lot of trouble with my HVR-1600 initially, but only on a select few high-freq weak channels. After tweaking to get the signal strength good on those few channels, I've had no trouble. I'm quite happy with my 1600 after 1.5 years of service.

I've only been able to scan using my HVR-1600 once, after a weird combination of unplugging my antenna and God knows what else. To this day I am unable to perform any successful scan in GBPVR, even after formatting my PC and everything.. I just keep a copy of the scan-cache file.

Jon_J, take the following and save it as your scan cache file. It will be in the BDA folder, called something like SCAN-2.cache (the number will vary depending on your setup, so you might have to experiment a bit until you get the right one). You'll know you have it right when you go into the config, click on "Map digital channels to EPG channels', and you'll see the channels as if they were already scanned in.

Well that's good to know! lol. I bought it off ebay and I've waited too long to return.

Interesting. I've only done 3 ATSC/OTA scans, but I've done perhaps 50-60 QAM scans. The ATSC scans all went great, but they were all done under 1.2.13 or earlier. The QAM scans done under 1.2.13 or earlier also went well, but the early QAM scans under 1.3.x had problems until the various fixes were released by sub. Since then it's been trouble free. Have you had trouble with QAM scans, too - or are you only doing ATSC/OTA?

Thank you very much. THAT WORKED!! Smile
When I clicked "Map digital channels to EPG channels" I got the "configuring" dialog, it scanned very quickly, and went to the "scan" window, and was finished. The preview even works in this window. I don't have any "tuning requests" in the "Edit Recording Source" window, but I'm not going to touch anything else, as long as my channels remain scanned in. Smile

I did edit the list so I could add "My-59" WAOE ch 39 - "virtual" 59

(WAOE ch 39 - "virtual" 59) isn't working, but maybe I input the wrong values for it.
This is a very "flaky" channel anyway, neither WinTV 6/7 will tune it although it shows a strong signal on the meter when scanning it.
I can tune this channel in tsreader. This channel is what I've been recording on most of the weekend.
Over the weekend (WAOE ch 39 - "virtual" 59) went from virtual 59 to virtual 39, and then back to virtual 59 after a day or so. It lost it's PSIP/EPG info when it dropped to virtual 39, and gained the PSIP/EPG once it went back to virtual 59. All this caused my WinTV 6/7 tuners to fail to tune it.
I have 3 CECB boxes hooked up to analog TVs, and I had to manually scan the two Digital Stream boxes on both occasions during this station's hijinx.
My Zenith CECB was tuned to 59 the night before and the next day after the virtual channel switch, the Zenith automatically tuned to 39.

Thanks again,
Jon

Edit:
I jumped the gun. The TV viewer in PVRX2 doesn't do anything when clicking on Live TV
I also got an exception error when I clicked TV Guide. Dialog says missing directory:
C:\Program Files\Devnz\GBPVR\media\ChannelLogos
I created this directory, now I don't get an exception error, but TV Guide does nothing when clicked in PVRX2.

you've got the hardest part out of the way. Smile sounds like you might have an issue with your EPG; do you have an account with Schedules Direct in order to receive EPG listings? it sounds like its not set up since you said you didn't get a list of channels in the map list.

you need to set up your EPG, and then hit the 'map channels' button, and then match them up. (for instance, WYZZ on your EPG needs to match up with the WYZZ-DT that has been scanned in). then it all should work nicely.

I use the XMLTV plugin. That's what I used from the start, although when I update my EPG, I get a bunch of channels from Champaign/Springfield/Decatur, and have to remove those from the list.
In the meantime, since I was having fits with the scanning, I input the first line of the list that sgilani posted into "tuning requests"
T:28,43,1~P:3~V:49~A:52~PMT:48~PCR:49~N:>43.1 WYZZ-DT (000(AC3))

Then the "tuning requests" dropdowns started working for all the rest of my channels.
I finally got "Live TV" working, but the video and audio stutters sometimes.
I also got the "TV Guide" working now. Smile
I'm not sure about the video/audio stuttering issue, may be a codec in GBPVR.
I get fine playback in WinTV 6 and tsreader.
WinTV 7 seems a bit slow and doesn't play as well as WinTV 6 or tsreader.

congrats! yeah, now it's time to tweak with decoders and renderers and all of that good stuff. Smile but that's a separate issue from this obviously.
