Thanks for the list, I added the items to the excel sheet. There is one small problem though. The two-word descriptions on the current conditions (main)screen use capitalization on both words, such as "Mostly Cloudy". For those, we need either a separate translation or this can be addressed otherwise by making the second word lower case all the time.

I am working on the remaining translations and will post in a day or two.

I did some work on the Weather strings myself.....a while ago, when I was making the icon packs for the weather plugin
Since the weather strings are so many, I suggest that that these strings are taken out from the Excel translation sheet for a while until you have completed them.
I have enclosed a Weather translation sheet with just weather strings that I found for Weather1.
I suggest that you add strings to this sheet and then I can use Google translation for other countries.....like I did with the spanish translation in the sheet.

If you make an export from this sheet, you have to do a cut and paste och the xml strings ot your language.xml.

Please don't remove any strings (rows) from the sheet. The more strings, the better.

Hi all,

after entering about 100 lines for weather descriptions, I did some research into accuweather translations and I found wp-forecast and this. It's a plugin for some blog system (I don't blog) which pulls the data from accuweather including the detailed weather condition. The main plugin page is in german, but the underlying translation mechanism must be usable for any language. And there are language packs for a number of languages. They are included in the download.

While I am not familiar with how this all works I am hopeful that the logic behind getting the required info from accuweather and then putting out something standardized that will be translated from the language.xml will be useful.

Here is an Excel sheet with Weather2 translations.
I extracted the translations from the PO files.

I have inserted the Macro, som you can generate a file with the weather translations, that you can cut and paste into your language.xml file for now.

The German translation was the best of them all, just a few strings missing.

When you have done the translations. Please post the Excel sheet, so I can include them in next "major" translation sheet.
Best Regards

Attached is my first compilation of about 3 weeks of collecting weather condition descriptions from the 5-day forecast screen. Its 150+ now, nowhere near complete. I don't think it's likely that all possible combinations can ever be caught this way. Even if, the list is going to be extremely long. I haven't even tried to look at other parts of the world yet to get some idea about the multitude of options for fall and winter or summer.

I have added my list to Mixman's sheet for your convenience.

I am coming back to my last post, suggesting that for the 5-day forecast fields it's probably a better idea to use the shorter descriptions that have any of the numbered codes 1-44 (if technically possible). That is of course, if it's a goal to have descriptions that can be translated at least on the current, overview and forecast main pages.

Be aware that exporting the numbered codes lines to the xml (as they are now input) will cause problems when (for example) viewing Live TV, you press "1" in you remote, and you get the weather description set for that number code displayed in your top left corner, instead of "1" as usual. Rolleyes

Anyway, great work compiling all the data, although I do agree that the sheer of idea of ever getting ALL of them, let alone translate them, seems somewhat utopic Sad

The 5-day forecast field does use the short text description. It just happens that the short text description for the forecasts is not the same as the current condition text description.

The forecast details screen shows the long text description.

There isn't really anything I can do about it. That's the way the data is provided.
