My experience with wireless is mixed. I think the problem is latency more than bandwidth. I've had better experience with a strong 802.11g then with the NMT's 802.11n even when the 11.n signal shows as > 100 Mbs When you get into wireless connections, I'm pretty sure the HTPC client will win because of improved buffering possibilities but at the same time I don't think either can be relied upon for HD. I wouldn't buy ANY hardware if wireless was the only solution.
Instead of recording to the NMT you could possibly transfer the file as part of post-processing (potentially over night!) but because GBPVR renders the screen key responses could still be slow. The HTPC client would win out there.
