Paul, can I get you ro run a test for me? I'm currently trying to nail down another issue with the HDHR and I wondered if it may have relevance to this issue. If you have any frequencies that only contain 480i or 720p channels, can you try limiting your scan to those frequencies?

I believe the lockups may be due to an issue with 1080i channels only. I'm about to go through my channels to test the same thing.

As a matter of fact, Cox recently began showing SD channels of some of the local stations as well as HD ones and I think you might be right as I noticed it about the time I had scan problems. HDHR's scan picks them up.
Pardon my stupidity but how do I limit my scans to just the SD freqs?

You would need to look at the lineup server page for your area and create a custom qam.ini that didn't include the frequencies that have 1080i channels. If you PM or email me you zip, I can create it for you.

I tested all 4 of my HDHR tuners and none crashed when I excluded the 1080i channels. So I definitely thing something is weird there.

I think I can do that. I'll give it a try tonite and let you know. I guess I can just take the ini I have now from the HDHR and simply remove those frequencies it will work but if just in case I hurt your feelings, your welcome to do the work for me. Big Grin My zip is 70005.
I never did post of Silicon's forum about this but really should have I think. If not for the Migration tool, I would have by now.

Thanks for your help in this.

I cannot get GBPVR to work with my HDHR. After I set up the record source and import the xmltv file, I try to map channels. It scans to 69/68 channels (that's what it says), and freezes. When I enable both the ATSC & QAM tuners (I have inputs to both), I start getting additional errors about my BDA not working. I have the application set to GBPVR in the HDHR setup. The HDHR application can view channels just fine. While I cannot get MediaPortal to work correctly either (it screws up the detection of the channels, which are encyrypted, which are radio channels, etc), it DOES work with the HDHR once I get *some* of the channels in the channel guide correctly. I don't get any BDA complaints (I do have the BDA patch applied to my XP SP3 installation).

Maybe related: after I updated the HDHR firmware to the current version (as of 16NOV09), it complains even with the HDHR application that I don't have AC3 and MPEG2 codecs installed. After it complains and I try to tune a channel again in their app, it works without complains. Their app didn't complain before the firmware update and I have AC3FILT and FFDSHOW installed, so I don't understand what the complaints are about.

I'm a newbie at trying to get this working, so forgive me if this is the wrong place to ask, or if I missed the resource that explains all this. Please give me a pointer if such answers are already there, thanks!

@Paul, I was just waiting for you or someone else to confirm my findings before posting it to the SD forums.

@hamaholic, can you zip and post your logs after the scan crashes?

I'll be happy to send anything that will help. Is there an automatic way to package the error logs, or do I need to research where they are located (and then zip them up to attach)?
Thanks,
Dean

Just zip and attach your logs folder. The default location is C:\Program Files\Devnz\GBPVR\logs

Since you were so thoughtful and considerate of my feelings:

Code:
[CABTYPE]
1=All Countries
2=All Frequencies

[DVB]
0=5
1=409250,0,0
2=607250,0,0
3=691250,0,0
4=697250,0,0
5=769250,0,0

If you place this in qam.ini, just select "Default cable frequencies" in the capture source setup. If you place it in qam-custom.ini, select "Custom range" but don't edit the range.

I'd also be curious if you get a frozen picture on the first frame when viewing a 1080i channel in the QuickTV application.
