OK, download mediainfo, and it will tell you what format the video is in - I suspect it's H264 based on being an MKV, and the fact your cpu was at 100% (h264 / VC1 is very demanding on cpu)

I use cyberlink powerdvd 8 codec for h264, and it gives me acceleration, and uses about 10% cpu - but on EVR, I get 50-90% with a 1080p file.

try this (fileter pack for GBPVR)

GBPVR uses technology that is built into Windows to play video files. If you have time and patience you might start reading here ...

Playing DVD from ISO is not very good idea, mostly you will be facing freezing, etc.
Better is create folder and extract (copy) all files from ISO to folder.
So no Daemon tools will be needed, no need to mount images = instand playback.

Your media info shows your video is 4.1 profile with 5ref. frames = no problem to decode using DXVA (depending on your GPU).

It is becouse EVR on WinXP works only in software mode (same using VMR9 under Vista/Win7).

1) tell GBPVR 2 things - a) where your Daemon tools executable is, and b) what drive Daemon will mount the iso on.
2) if it's the "Lite" version, tell Daemon not to run in "secure" mode (I'm not sure about the regular version). The secure mode won't let other programs access Daemon.

For 1), you can use config, or directly edit config.xml. (You can tell Daemon to use a specific drive letter, or just let it default)
For 2) right click the icon and, IIRC, select options.

What is the source of this iso related freezing? I haven't noticed it, but I don't watch a lot of DVD ISO's, and sometimes I play them through GBPVR->PowerDVD using my combo DVD/BluRay batch file that identifies the mounted iso and lets me use either the internal player or PowerDVD.

No idea what is causing it, playback simply hang. Can be related to mounting images, no idea. But working without any problem whan started from directory.

Do you get the full DVD menu, or just the ripped movie? Does GBPVR support DVD menu and playback from a ripped directory? Is the freezing problem (DVD iso) something everyone sees, or just you?
