This sounds like the issue I was having.

When you go to the Media Source menu, is the first entry 01 Network Browser? Then 02 is your MONEYSUCKER:mvpmc?

Or does it only show smb://MONEYSUCKER:mvpms after you map it?

If that is the case try to download and install the default NMT apps from PCH Firmware page:

1) Yes - I updated it before starting version: 01-17-080612-15-pop-402-000
2) No -There is only one option under the media menu.

If it is showing 01-17-080612-15-pop-402-000 you will need to update to the new version.

The first entry should be 01 Network Browser.

I'm going to guess that when you map your share you don't have a field to enter the name of the share either.

Try installing/re-installing the NMT Apps (not the firmware).

Sorry, my bad.

This is the exact same issue I had with my referb before I got updated to that beta firmware. Until that happened I did not have the network browser listed under the sources menu and kept getting the "Request cannot be processed" when trying to use the share.

Once I updated to that beta firmware things looked different, I had the Network Browser, when I go to Setup > Network Share > Add I have a spot to put a share name (this was missing before that).

I think at the same time I must have put a HDD (since removed) in and installed the apps, so I thought it was that.

Closer - I can choose the GBPVR option now and it flickers to a black screen

If it returns to the NMT screen in about 5 seconds it is most likely that you didn't change the Auto mode. If it is thirty seconds it could be a personal firewall or some problem loading the MVP server and I'd need to see the GBPVR logs.

It's more like it starts and never flashes back. I've tried it with the windows firewall on and off
