Why do you need to learn again, when the test blasts the correct single channel? I had to learn each digit several times in many cases, but when it learned correctly, it worked subsequently... is this not the case? (and sorry I'm probably missing something here!)

It never correctly learns again. When I say I 'learn' it twice, I mean I run the learn routine twice, since it doesn't work the first time... or the next twelve.

I have never had HIP blast the correct signal for this remote. I have had it work on other boxes with other remotes. It seems that HIP and/or the MCE receiver has trouble with this type of remote. My Radio Shack universal can learn the signals from the remote, and use them on the box.

I tried using the Radio Shack remote to learn the signals from the DTA remote, and then use the Radio Shack remote to teach HIP, but this did not work either.

Perhaps I should drop the MCE receiver and try the USBUIRT device. Would a different IR receiver work?

mkenyon2,
I've attached the zipped MCEIR folder from HIP, which appears to have the channel codes. I haven't used HIP to change channels for some time, but I believe the codes for the channels contained should work for you. My setup for this was HIP, net2hipsend, HP beanbag using port 2, Pace DC50x DTA.... and at least it will help troubleshooting.
