Hi.
Thanks for the reply.

Windows Scheduler would only let me specify ONE wakeup time. For many recordings per day scheduled at various times coupled with power outage timings, it would not be very useful to me.

I have studied and listed down all the Bios settings and are mentioned as below :

In the Bios, I could find the following three menus related to UPS and power :

Power Management :
======================
It has further three settings as below :

Suspend Mode :
-----------------
Two options : S3, S1.
Description given : This field selects Power Management suspend mode.

The option S3 was already selected.

AC Power Recovery :
---------------------------
Three options : Last, On, Off
Description given :
This field determines how the sytem will react after AC power has been restored to the system. It is especially useful for people who turn their system off with a power strip.
When set to off, the system will remain off after AC power has been restored.
When set to On, the system will turn on after AC power has been restored.
When set to Last, the system will turn on if the system was on when AC was lost. The system will turn off if the system was off when AC was lost.

The option 'Last' was already selected.

Low Power Mode :
---------------------
Two options : Disabled, Enabled.
Description given : This field configures the amount of power used when the system is in Hibernate or Off. When enabled, Remote Wakeup events will no longer power up the system from Hibernate or Off.

The option 'Disabled' was already selected.

Auto Power On :
======================
It has further two settings as below :

Auto Power On Mode :
-------------------------
Three options : Disabled, Weekdays, Everyday.
Description given : This field enables the system to power on automatically. You may have the system turn on everyday or only on a weekday.
This feature will not work if you turn off your system using a power strip or surge protector.

The option 'Disabled' was already selected.

Auto Power On Time :
-------------------------
time setting 00:00
Description given : This feature specifies the time when the system will automatically power on.

Remote Wakeup :
=========================
It has three options : Off, On, On w/ Boot to NIC.
Description given : When set to On, the system will power up when a Network Interface Controller or Remote Wake up capable modem receives a wake up signal.
When set to On w/ Boot to NIC, the system will attempt a network boot prior to using the Boot Sequence.
Note : Normally the system can be powered up remotely from suspend, Hibernate, or Off. When Low Power Mode (in the Power Management menu) is enabled the system can only be powered up remotely from Suspend.

The option 'On' was already selected.
Please review and advise further.
Regards.

I had problems with the opposite of my HTPC not going to standby/hibernate before, i find that it is most often another app interfering. Have you tried with a clean machine?

I only suggested Windows Scheduler as something to test and see if Windows and/or you machine could be woken from standby at all, ignoring any GBPVR influences.

Suspend mode - I think this is more for powersaving directly from the BIOS rather than from the operating system.
AC power recovery - I think I use ON here, just to make sure the machine powers up and then it will let Windows shut it down after no activity.
Low Power mode - looks good.
The rest look fine.
Have you tried Hibernate mode rather than standby? I moved to hibernate after some startup problems - although these were more to do with tuners than just starting up.

A couple more thoughts - when testing, do no put the PC into standby manually, let Windows shut it down. When testing, do not set the wakeup events too soon, or it will not go to sleep.

So, first, I would set a single Scheduler event to see if that will wake the machine and decide from the results of that which way to go.

Side question:
If the GBPVR server is also your primary machine for watching recordings, Will GBPVR try to hibernate after a recording is complete if you are in the middle of watching something previously recorded? Or if actively navigating through the GBPVR menus?

GB-PVR never tells a machine to hibernate or standby, but it will tell the machine not to hibernate/standby while recording though. ie, if you have Windows set to auto hibernate/standby after a period of inactivity, that wont happen while a recording. At the end of the recording, it no longer keeps the machine awake.
