As noted, help is plentiful on this forum. And it is typically friendly, however if you were looking for support, you might want to reread your post. You slam the forum, and you will either get slammed back or ignored.

Anyway, you might want to check out this link. http://forums.gbpvr.com//showthread.php?...%28beta%29 It explains the release and in post 3 it CLEARLY states what is needed and what to do.

sub Wrote:The new application requires an updated vcredist_x86, since I've switched to using VS2008. This can be downloaded from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/detai...laylang=en

It also requires an updated DirectX runtime from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/detai...laylang=en

The application installer can be downloaded from http://www.gbpvr.com/NPVRSetup.exe

After installing the application, run NPVR, right click on the window and click Settings from the context menu. From there you click Devices to configure the channels on each device etc.
The bold was mine, but it was spelled out pretty clearly. So, welcome to the forum, show a little respect (it is donateware) and ask any question you can think of. You won't believe how fast you get answers. Cool

Fantastic Smile I was going to suggest that, it seems to have been the thing to trip most people up.

Yeah, saying 'not yet worth a try' was always going to evoke a response like that ;-)

Thanks, Sub! Points noted!

(Thought I was "just sayin" "can't see how to go forward," but black and white text really doesn't convey nuances well.)

Still working at it.....

Hello, Kettle? This is Pot. You're Black!
Quote:If I was good at GB-PVR already, or NPVR, then I wouldn't make a post saying "can't even see how to get started."
But you didn't make such a post, did you? You made a post saying NPVR was a waste of your time, and that you'd already uninstalled it because it doesn't work (seems unhelpful, and a waste of space, yes?). "Hi, I just installed NPVR, but after launching the app I can't even see how to get started. Can someone fill me in on the how I get started configuring things? Thanks in advance." would have served much better, wouldn't you think?

That said, props for manning up and coming back. I've put my knives away now. Indeed, that may have been the first time in over 1,100 posts I've had the sharps out here.... once the idea popped in my head I fancied myself quite clever and wasn't willing to put them away unbloodied. You'd know what a babelfish was if you were a cool frood with any clue where your towel is, but I digress.

Peace.

Well I downloaded it, got it working to its max (except for problem with Acamd) and then uninstalled it. Its not good enough, yet.
My GB-PVR setup is perfect, just slower than nPVR.
My nPVR started interfering with my GB-PVR tuners so I uninstalled it, my wife is a red head - you want to be here when I miss a recording?.

I will install again though, just waiting on tuner priority movement.
Its a beta, for testing, and its 90% working for me. But at least I found the config menu Smile

Keep up the great work SUB
nPVR is a streamlined beast.

As a red head (well, what hair I still have left) I could take offense to that statement but instead, I'll congratulate you for marrying up!Big Grin

Phew, what a nice subject for a "free of charge" software..., in threads like this i have every time to think about moving to trash. ;D

I would say, that nPVR FOR NOW is no alternate if using analog tv cards (problems with channel, muxxer, decoders <only Microsoft MPEG-1 decoder plays audio track of live tv, but not of the recording etc.). For this, and of course because of the network functions, i will stay at gb-pvr.

As i know sub, all little bugs/problems with nPVR (which is indicated as BETA) will be solved soon enough. We shouldn't forget, that nPVR is a fully rewrite (and a fully new software), which of course has some bugs. Wink
