One more input: when I streamed using VLC the A100 Audio/Video settings of AAC were set on "Analog (PCM)". If I change this setting to "Digital (RAW)" I get no audio.

Is it possible that mvpmc changes this parameter to Digital while running?

The pid values you show in VLC don't match what mvpmcx2 got, are you sure they are the same channel?

mvpmcx2 only uses pass through on ac3 and dts streams when pass through is enabled, otherwise it is down mixed.

Can you capture some of that vlc stream to a file it looks like wget http://-localhost:1234 O test.ts will do it. I'd like to see if you can play it wit mvpmcx2.

Yes that stream is normal AAC (0x0f) not HE-AAC are you certain they are the same channel? If so VLC must be demuxing the HE-AAC on the fly, which is similar to the VLC command line transcoding I was proposing for HE-AAC broadcasts during post-processing.

If VLC can do this, I think a plugin AAC recorder would be trivial to write.

I hope I didn't raise your expectations, I am not planning on writing a plugin because I don't have a dvb source or he-aac audio to test with.

If sub decides to leave the broken ffmpeg playback to the MVP I might do a transcoding plugin. I wasted 100's of hours on UbuStreamRecorder before I found out sub was killing old style plugins so I am reluctant to work on any video plugins or things I won't use.

In the meantime, if vlc is working for you I'm sure you could get post processing on recordings and only lose sound on LiveTV

If you play the ts file that won't play with the A100's software does it play? Also what AVR are you using?
