My HD recordings are black snowy picture with noise, but no sound

I'm assuming if that made your recordings play you would have said so? Then it's not the same bug.

Try switching your Mux to .ts (not full-ts), make a new recording and see if that plays. The setting is in the upper left corner of one of the Misc screens in config.

I finally got my system set up to record HD on comcast cable, basic package, no stb. All of my HD recordings play back as a snowy black screen with noise, not audio. I can watch HD live and pause and play live HD tv, but my recordings are hosed. I don't know if the recording is bad or the playback, but it's not right. I've searched around here, but haven't found anything that helped.

Capture source is BDA recording plugin, recording source is digital recording plugin. I have tried various combinations of video renderer and decoder settings. All decoders I have are what came with the software.


My machine is XP with a radeon X1950 Pro with 512MB and the Hauppauge 1600 card. I'm using the last version of gbpvr.

Sounds like you have the digital channels enabled on the analog side of the device, so its just tuning garbage. Check your analog capture source, and disable the channels.

I have tried that with one channel so far and it seems to have fixed it, Should it be recording mpg or drv-ms files?

Nice call sub, I wouldn't have guessed that. I was starting to wonder why his LiveTV played ok, but not recordings; then I was thinking maybe it was the issue where some of the PID's were wrong which affects DVR-MS but not .ts; but it's a new setup, he just scanned so the PID's ought to still be right. Again, nice call.

That depends on the Mux you have set on the Misc or Misc2 tab in Config.
