How to change channels in nPVR w/ HVR-1600?

The IR service is nothing to do with nPVR as it's a Hauppauge/Windows thing. A system reboot will do it. Or go start/all programs/Hauppauge WinTV/Restart IR.

If it's still not working after a reboot then try putting all the nPVR parts at the end of the sections. Also make sure you're using Notepad to edit this file and not Word, Wordpad or such like.

OK... you were right. I went to the little remote control icon in my system tray and quit; that crashed npvr so I restarted windows, and now the remote seems to work as it should. Thanks.

If I could make a few other suggestions about documentation that might help other newbies like me, it would be this:

1.) Be explicit about the sequence of installation for those who have a Haupauge card: i.e. whether to install the WinTV app, and whether it matters if you do that before or after installing NPVR. Right now the user is left to guess what to do with the app.
2.) Be explicit about what version of the Hauppage WinTV app is o.k. to use, or which files from it are needed (like the ir file.)
3.) Post a modififed version of the ini app that people can download or install, or better yet, include that in the NPVR installer, or include a patcher in the NPVR installer.
4.) Tell people what decoders ought to be visible in the setting windows after the npvr is installed; and where to go for them if they are missing.
5.) Things that the user needs to do as part of basic installation should be linked to from the page http://www.nextpvr.com/nwiki/pmwiki.php?...AndInstall . Right now it just says "simply run the .MSI file to install." Clearly there are other steps that the user needs to take.
6.) Maybe consolidate a sticky thread that's a "Troubleshooting" thread that would feature the most frequently encountered set up issues. That way, as new issues come up they can simply be added to the thread and people would be able to find 90% of the known issues in one place.

I realize this is entirely a volunteer effort. I just figured maybe this would help spare you from answering a lot of the same questions over and over. These are the things that I stumbled over as a newbie to the product. Thanks again for all your help.

Some good feedback there. Although most of the points are about hardware or non nPVR software I think something useful could still be put on the wiki.
