Hi systemshark,

Sorry, I've been away this last week and haven't had a great chance to look at it. The short time I have, I've noticed that sometimes LiveTV starts such that the buffer must be too short, you need to rewind 10 seconds to stop it constantly skipping. Also might depend on the channel, and strangely this seems to only happen on the second tuner. I wonder are there any settings in the config file that can adjust the length of the buffer?

I'll post an update soon when hopefully I've had a chance to look at (and post) the logs too!

Thanks Smile

It actually doesnt have any buffer at all when you start live tv. ie, data from the device is delivered straight to the decoders for playback (live preview mode). When you hit skip, it switches out of live preview mode, into timeshift mode, and starts playing from the file instead of the live data. Its possible some driver issue with this device deliver data in a very bursty/jerky manner on the second tuner.

Hi sub,

I'll keep an eye on it and see if I can get any events in the logs which may be of use to you. Absolutely love this ability to have timeshift mode but fast live TV switching. It's fantasic. There's also a thought in my mind that it might be channel dependent, but I'm not sure if that is just fluke. Watching it now in Live TV, on the second tuner, BBC2 and it is absolutely fine.

Must confess I haven't fully switched over from PVRX2 yet, the problem is you've made that so stable the bar is very high for NPVR! I think NPVR is there, but it's difficult to leave something that works so well behind! Smile

Hi sub,

I got a good look at this last night, and it seems that there is an issue with the live streams data being sent a bit clumpy. It appears to be as it the new data doesn't arrive in time, causing a glitch in the audio and sometimes in the video. If I rewind 10 seconds, the time-shift recording plays back perfectly over bits I know there was a glitch in when in Live TV mode.

I've attached the logs in case they are of any use to you.

Thanks Smile

I didn't realise that's how you did it (for NPVR?). I thought it was just recording and playing back from the file all the time. Is this because multirecord is active at all times, ie, you can deliver one stream to disk, and another to the "live" decoders?

Regardless, the performance of it all is very very impressive, and for me it's the single biggest improvement over how GBPVR works. I know there have been some complaints over the time it takes to change channel, but on my setup I can't tell the difference for SD channels (between NPVR and GBPVR), but have noticed it's definitely faster flicking between HD (mpeg4) channels.

I thought i might add a thread as i was about to start a new topic about this issue until i saw this.

I have a TD-Nova-500 (84xx series). I'm running Windows 7 32 bit. I literally upgraded from XP last week.
I'll look up my driver number is:3.11.27187.0. Which came from the latest cd download here:
http://www.hauppauge.co.uk/site/support/...ml?prod=30

The problem:
I haven't actually got to the 'using Live TV' stage as i can't get a consistent Scan when requesting the channels. There a load of UK channels (out of Crystal Palace) that sit around 48000 Hz (ITV channels), that sometimes appear.
Then a load around 56000 Hz (BBC channels), that sometimes appear.
BUT never at the same time.

It's almost as if the signal is cutting out at certain points.

I will find out my version when i get home. But i certainly didn't get this issue in Windows XP.

thanks, n4l

Hi sub,

Just been chatting to a friend who has the exact same card as mine, but he's a MythTV / Linux man. He says that the MythTV people require users of the Nova-DT-500 to explicitly set a LiveTV delay of 5 ms, and also to enable the LNA (Low Noise Amplifier). I'm not sure if this makes much sense to you, or maybe Microsoft's BDA drivers take care of this anyway, but thought it was worth mentioning. My uninformed reckon is that a brief delay (even by a few frames) in the LiveTV might resolve my issue, but maybe this causes havoc with your design.

Thanks Smile
