OK, rebooted. NVPR service installed (yay!). Not starting... getting "Error 3: The system cannot find the path specified" (nooo!)... my subst'd c: drive coming back to haunt me perhaps? Hmmm.... maybe it's time for a rebuild and getting rid of GBPVR permanently, and committing to NVPR. Many thanks for pointing out stuff so far... if that crash.mdmp isn't obvious, don't worry too much about it. I think it's rebuild time, 'cause that subst c: has caused other issues, and may be causing issues here (I can't remember exatcly why my system is H:\.... it was something like being due to windows not installing off cd, so I copied files to a small partition (which took cSmile & installed windows to a new partition (not c:!)... something like that!), so if it isn't a quick fix that you can see, forget it, and i'll rebuild. You must be a busy man, and I don't want to take too much of your time.

See comment on last page about crash.mdmp. (psisdecd.dll)

Subst is probably a bad idea. It's probably not visible to different user accounds, screwing the recording service which runs as 'localsystem' not your desktop account.

OK, you may have just saved me from reinstalling... that dll seems to work a charm. Thanks again. One last thing if it's not too much trouble, service is installed, but I am getting "Error 3: The system cannot find the path specified"... stupidly I installed from my subst'd c: drive, rather from my native H: drive. Should I use a command on nrecord.exe to remove the service (so that I can then reinstall from HSmile, or can I just use windows XP to remove it (I forget how, but I know there is some way to get rid of it.. I can find that).

Great work on NPVR... I remember GBPVR took me about a week of fiddling to set up properly... I think that after 24 hours, NPVR is now ready to go! Massive kudos to you sub.

This has happened to some people because they set their recording directory to somewhere the 'localsystem' account couldnt access. If you post the logs, I should be able to tell.

Thanks goodness for old posts. I created a new recording folder and this happened to me. Now I need to go and see why the permissions of the master directory changed... 6 recordings I will have to get next time around.

If you haven't broken it at least once, you're not doing it right.
