This is using DVB-T epg with DVBGuide and Vista - It looks as though the file names don't like colons or ... correction just tried ... is ok in Vista : is not.

I have just checked IMDB it should actually be "and the" not ":..." looks as though the program guide is paraphrasing occasionally (is this deliberate?)
Last night I successfully recorded Indiana Jones and the Kingdom... from the standard DVB-T EPG.

I don't think the problem is simply colons, I regularly record "CBC News: The National" and the colon is removed. In addition some pretty popular shows here Survivor, "Amazing Race", CSI and "Law and Order" and all the "Star Trek"'s have colons and I'm pretty sure that people would be screaming by now if it was a problem.

Polite bump on this one Sub

Tried to record "The Secret Life of the National Grid" last night - expecting it to fail - I was right Smile
In the epg and xml file the program title was - The Secret Life of the National... - and in the description - ...Grid
So it would appear that it is the triple full stop (period) that is baulking file creation.
Folder is created - The Secret Life of the National but it is emptySad
This is using DVBGuide to capture the ota guide.
Also ha a program fail last week in the same way.
It's not an overly complicated system - it's more - overly simple operatives  Huh

Hmm, I cant remember if I fixed this before I went away, but it looks like the code is already handling three trailing dots in a show name.

I've got a series recording of this set up and never missed an episode.

I double checked and it actually shows up as "$..! My Dad Says" in my recurring recordings list but it does get recorded (I have it set for new episodes only).

Sub - Looks like this was after you left the country

I think this is only happening in TVXML mode - when I was using the built in DVB-T guide, I don't remember any problems.
The three trailing dots are being shortened to two in the epg - the folder is created without the dots and then no file appears in the folder - the show can be watched live as far as I recall.

Edit
After further testing - it looks as though Vista is removing the trailing dots from the file name on its own - so causing the file path in the database to be incorrect - so no where to put the file - maybe!

According to the code, three trailing dots should already be removed from the potential filename by NPVR before it actually tried to create it.

I've added some logging in this patch. Reproduce the problem, then post the npvr.log/nrecord.log and I'll take a look.
