Doing an 'empty epg' followed by 'update epg' should get rid of the duplicates.
I think he's got duplicate season recordings too, so the duplicate pending recordings would just come back each time. The season recordings themselves need to be deleted.

Hmm. The plot thickens. After following your instructions last evening on emptying and reloading the EPG, earlier this evening I put a single program on quick record. It showed up in RED. Now two hours later, the program is just starting, and I look at NPVR and behold, the program is no longer RED. So, thinking maybe I had a brain aberration and hadn't actually set the program to record earlier, or that NPVR has forgotten my instruction, I again set it to quick record: it turner RED.
Then I happened to look at the NPVR tuner status window, and behold, I have two identical concurrent recordings of the program happening.
So, it did receive my earlier instruction. It then forgot to show the RED indicator. And notably, there is no logic to stop me setting the program to record a second time simultaneously.
