I have attempted a work around, but given I've not been able determine the cause or reproduce it here, I have no way to know if this will help until it's in the hands of users that see the problem. I not certain enough claim the problem is definitely fixed in the next release.

As Martin says though, getting the next release out will put me back in state where I can provide patches to collect more logging etc, which will be a big help if the problem is still present.

Not sure. I'm going to be out of the country for the next couple of weeks though, so hopefully not long after that.

My first (at least for a long time) "recording service not running" event. It appears the recording service stopped when the recording started, and then restarted at the end of the recording.

The file is there, and can be played in WMP, but not NPVR (from Videos menu) as it throws an unhandled exception. The program description metadata appears to be missing. Windows Explorer cannot figure out the time length (just shows 00:00 in the thumbnail) so I extracted the timing.info, but it looks reasonable. Log snips, exception text and timing.info attached if they might help. The program was Frontiline, scheduled to record 0400 - 0500 on November 27. On further inspection, it looks like the signal at the tuner was not too good. This channel has occasionally been troublesome for me in the past so perhaps this is a different problem. Seems like it should not have killed the recording service, however.

Maybe this helps.

mikeh49, the exception looks like it is from NextPVR not NRecord, you probably should include all the logs not just snippets. A 50-100MB chunk of the file would probably be helpful too.
