You should be able to get this device working with NextPVR. You'd need to get the SoftPVR components on your machine though, so that the MainConcept Multiplexer filter is available. You'd also need the HARD_ENCODE that whurlston defined above, added to your AnalogDevices.xml.

Due to utter frustration I have purchased a Hauppage hvr-950q USB tuner and installed on the wife's PC. I also now have an HDTV antennae and am working on configuring them. Tried my PC with the ATI wonder 650 and the ota antennae with no luck either through wmc nor nextpvr. <edited>

Lord help me and thanx!

For QAM or OTA, you need to plug the cable input into the digital coax connection.
For CATV, you use the other input (analog).

I am using a 650HD (Theater chip) on mine, and it can find all the channels.

Ok, here is the latest..

Wife's PC to slow, had choppy video. Removed device and software, and went back to my PC

Have installed HD antennae and working well with tv on all tv sets. No more Time Warner cable service!

Have installed Hauppage WinTV-HVR-950Q usb tuner. WinTV software works fine, no choppy video. In NVPR device settings, both the Hauppage and ATI tuners showed up and added 24 channels. Another device showed up named ATI AVStream Analog Capture, which was not present before.

Have set up the Roku NPVR channel and am able to search through nvpr's program guide.

In NPVR upon selecting Live TV, I receive an error stating "Unable To Connect To Recording Service"

Have completely uninstalled NPVR, and manually removed the data directory. Reinstalled and applied latest patches with no luck. Again both tuners were recognized and able to add channels. Upon initial setup I received errors regarding directory locations. My system directory resides on my F: drive and am curious if this may be the problem?

Again, much appreciation for the help!

Some people have had problems when installing on drives other than C:.

Maybe try starting a comand prompt with 'run as administrator' then change to the directory with nrecord.exe, and try running "nrecord.exe INSTALL".

Still no luck. Found the following in the npvr.log file:

2011-09-18 20:53:26.364 [ERROR][1] Unexpected socket exception calling StartStream(): System.Net.Sockets.SocketException: No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it 127.0.0.1:8968

Try running "nrecord.exe RUN". The capitals are important.
